**Job Description**:
Position Summary:
The Director of Media Relations is responsible for developing and executing on a global media strategy and building and nurturing relationships with media, to increase awareness and support of the company’s strategy and thought leadership. This role will report to the BlackBerry IOT VP Marketing.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop a proactive media strategy and manage inbound media inquiries, to achieve relevant coverage in a competitive landscape
- Build and nurture collaborative relationships with key media organizations and journalists, and find new ways to connect with media
- Develop effective media communications, including press releases and op-eds, to achieve high earned media value
- Increase awareness of what BlackBerry IOT (QNX, IVY, Radar) does today and elevate the reputation of the company as an innovator and leader in IoT
- Provide thought leadership to shape or respond to the current public discourse in the markets in which BlackBerry IOT operates
- Regularly evaluate the global competitive communications landscape and continuous news cycle, and make recommendations that inform strategy, planning and execution
- Build & manage a team of regional Media Relations Managers
- Conduct media training for company spokespeople
- Develop and manage an internal communications roadmap and create compelling content that fuels employee engagement

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
- Proven ability to lead a global team and function
- Strong written and verbal communication and storytelling skills, across a breadth of areas, including technology innovation and economic trends
- Strong business acumen and the ability to tie media strategy and narrative to business strategy
- Proven track record of building relationships with media organizations and journalists, and achieving high earned media value
- A high-performance and high-integrity individual, who works well under pressure to be both proactive and reactive
- A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, who can manage multiple priorities and execute with both quality and speed
