**Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA)**

The Medical Centre Hearing Services is an independent audiology and hearing aid clinic. We serve Peterborough and surrounding areas with full-service hearing care to include infant, children and adult audiograms, ear cleaning and hearing instrument sales and service. We pride ourselves in our follow up care to all our clients.

**DUTIES**

**Hearing Testing**:

- Assist the Audiologist during a pediatric hearing assessment to maintain a client’s attention or return their focus during testing.

**Amplification Systems**:

- Basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on hearing aids. Maintenance tasks and repairs may include: cleaning, listening checks, replacing parts on hearing aids (e.g., wax guards, microphone covers. tubing, battery door, hooks, domes, etc.).
- Load existing settings from NOAH following the return of repaired hearing aids from the manufacturer.
- Fit repaired hearing aids or accessories, providing any necessary recalibration, and check for proper fit and function.
- Buff hearing aids, tips or molds as required for comfortable fit.
- Provide otoscopic examination of ear canals and inform clients of any observations and possible resolutions.
- Perform Electro-Acoustic Analysis (EAA) on hearing aids without interpretation of results, or with interpretation by supervising Audiologist as appropriate.

**Education/Training of Clients and Caregivers**:

- Educate clients and caregivers in the use of their hearing aids. This may include insertion and removal, changing batteries, use of accessories (e.g., remotes), and how to clean their hearing aids.

**Supportive Services**:

- Clean and maintain all equipment as required for optimal function.
- Restock supplies needed for daily use of all clinicians and order supplies as required to maintain stock.
- Ship and receive all new orders and repairs. Record all shipments sent and received.
- Provide coverage for front desk reception as required. This includes answering the phone, scheduling appointments, processing client purchases, and creating invoices.

**Documentation and File Management**:

- Prepare, manage and file clients' charts in accordance with Hearing Services protocols.
- Document all relevant client activity in their charts to ensure clinical continuity.
- Maintain accurate client data records in 'Accuro’.
- Maintain confidentiality and confidential patient records in accordance with privacy legislation.

**Education & Qualifications**:

- Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) Certificate preferred, but not required.
- 1-2 years client service experience.

**Skills**:

- Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Punctual, professional, and reliable.
- Highly interested and motivated.
- Able to work independently in a multi-professional environment.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
