**Position Summary and Scope of Service**:
The Workplace Incident Investigator, has a crucial role in maintaining a fair and respectful work environment by thoroughly and impartially investigating complaints or concerns related to workplace behavior, ethics, or policies. The primary objective of this position is to collect all evidence and documentation that may be relevant to the allegations, and for the Workplace Incident Investigator to make recommendations, and whether the matter warrants formal discipline in accordance with the employer's formal disciplinary procedures.
**Qualifications**
Educational:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
- Education and/or Certification in Workplace Investigations is an asset.
- Working knowledge and experience in restoring workplace relationships following a workplace investigation.
- Trauma Informed Interviewing skills.
- Proven experience in workplace investigations, demonstrating a strong understanding of employment laws.
- Familiarity with HR policies and procedures.
Professional:
- Objectively approach investigations without bias, ensuring a fair and impartial assessment of the incident.
- Strong analytical capabilities to assess evidence, identify patterns, and draw conclusions during the investigation process.
- The ability to effectively communicate - clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal to convey findings/recommendations, and updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to maintain objectivity, and handle sensitive information.
- Detail orientated with a meticulous approach to gathering and documenting, ensuring that no relevant details are overlooked during the investigative process.
- Legal knowledge and familiarity with relevant employment laws and regulations to ensure investigations adhere to legal requirement and best practices.
- Proficient in conducting interviews with tact and skill, extracting pertinent information while maintaining a respectful and professional demeanor,
- Effective time management skills to ensure timely completion of investigations without compromising thoroughness.

- A strong sense of ethics and integrity, maintaining professionalism and honesty through the investigative process.
- A commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of the investigation, treating sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
- The capacity to approach individuals involved in the incident with empathy and sensitivity, recognizing the emotional aspects of workplace conflicts.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Duties include:
- Conduct impartial and thorough investigations into workplace complaints, such as allegations of abuse, neglect or undignified treatment which may include harassment, discrimination, and ethical concerns.
- Interview relevant parties, collect and analyze evidence and ensure confidentiality throughout the investigative process.
- Collaborate with management teams to assess findings and recommend appropriate actions to resolve issues and prevent future incidents.
- Stay updated on employment laws and regulations to ensure investigations align with legal requirement and best practice.
- Prepare clear and comprehensive investigative reports, detailing findings, conclusions, and recommendations for resolutions.
- Provide guidance to management on proactive measures to maintain a positive and inclusive work environment
- Conduct training sessions on workplace policies, ethics, and prevention of inappropriate behaviors.
- Obtain witness statements.
- Collect documentary evidence and other relevant information.
- Evaluating the evidence - examine the evidence package to confirm the investigation is thorough and complete, with no omissions or errors in the investigation; all documents are relevant to the matter under investigation; whether the employers rules, policies, procedures, and standards pertaining to the allegation under investigation are documented and clear; the investigation was conducted without bias or unfairness.
