Since 1975 The Mustard Seed Street Church has been essential in fighting hunger and restoring faith to our community in Greater Victoria. Our operations are nearly 100 percent community funded and our services include a Food Bank, a Food Rescue Program that serves over 70 agencies in the CRD and Hospitality and Meal programs. We also offer Church Services for those seeking a place to belong and grow spiritually. Through these core programs we assist over 65,000 people each month with the help of more than 50 daily volunteers and many generous financial supporters

**Position Summary**
This is an operations and logistics position within the Food Security Ministry, responsible for the collection, delivery and transportation of products for distribution through The Mustard Seed Street Church. The individual must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, as they will be interacting with donors and a diverse community of volunteers to ensure the efficient collection, transportation and delivery of products. The Transportation Associate must possess and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure effective operations with our staff and volunteers, specifically the Food Rescue Manager, Programming Manager, Guest Services Coordinator and Director of Food Security and Development Team.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Safe and courteous operation of The Mustard Seed Street Church’s vehicles
- Health and Safety - work practices and cleanliness of vehicles and equipment
- Responsible for the well-being and safety of all staff, volunteers, clients and donors during pick-ups and deliveries
- Collaborate with Shipping/Receiving and colleagues to ensure efficient collection and distribution of products through established methods
- Help to maintain all equipment used in Transportation, including vehicles, carts, dollies, bins, forklifts, pallet jacks or relevant equipment
- Train, support, supervise and evaluate volunteers with a range of diverse personalities and skills
- Effective communication with Food Security Team, donors, vendors, partner agencies, staff, volunteers and general public
- Attending and participating in all relevant Mustard Seed Street Church meetings and training opportunities available
- Completion of both truck inspection/trip sheets and Route Checklist daily
- Event support for Development team
- Participate in employee and program evaluation process
- Other duties as required
**Qualifications**
- Required - BC Driver’s license and acceptable abstract -Class 1 license an asset
- Required -Experience driving 5, 3 & 1 ton trucks; experience driving a Sprinter Van; experience in vehicle inspection and completing inspection sheets
- Required - Acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance
- Asset - Current forklift and power jack certification with experience completing inspection sheets
- Warehouse experience an asset
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C are an asset
- WHMIS an asset

**Terms of Employment**
- Must be willing to sign the staff code of conduct
- This position reports to: Food Rescue Manager
- Term: 6 month contract, Full Time
- Hours: 6am to 2pm, Monday to Friday with occasional fluctuations
- Must read and agree to following The Mustard Seed policies which are a living, changing document
- The Mustard Seed Street Church follows BC Employment Standards
- **Must provide and maintain an acceptable criminal record check, including the level of clearance required to work with vulnerable people
