**Salary**: $3,339.00 to $4,493.32 bi-weekly ($87,148 - $117,276/year)

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for legislative development and Indigenous health policy? Health’s Indigenous Policy and Planning Branch is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to manage its policy and legislative planning, review, and development processes. In this impactful role, you will lead legislative initiatives that support health outcomes for Indigenous Peoples and communities across Alberta.

This leadership position is responsible for overseeing a dynamic team dedicated to advancing Ministry and Government priorities related to Indigenous health. You will lead the planning, development, and coordination of legislative and strategic policy initiatives, ensuring alignment with the recommendations of the Modernization of Alberta’s Primary Health Care System, while reflecting the values and priorities of Indigenous communities.

**Role Responsibilities**:

Alberta Health’s Indigenous Policy and Planning Branch is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to manage its policy and legislative planning, review, and development processes. In this impactful role, you will lead legislative initiatives that support health outcomes for Indigenous Peoples and communities across Alberta.
- The job responsibilities include:

- Lead the policy and legislative planning processes for the Indigenous Policy and Planning Branch, ensuring alignment with ministry goals and government priorities.
- Develop legislative options and strategies that achieve policy objectives, identifying the most appropriate legislative or non-legislative tools for implementation.
- Ensure proposed legislation reflects policy direction, political considerations, and operational requirements of affected program areas.
- Collaborate with Alberta Health’s Policy Integration and Legislative Services team to align Indigenous health initiatives with legislative strategy.
- Manage the end-to-end legislative process, including internal and external approvals, document drafting, and stakeholder coordination.
- Conduct and lead cross-jurisdictional research and data analysis to support informed decision-making.
- Identify alternative policy mechanisms such as communication strategies or educational campaigns when legislation is not the optimal path.
- Provide strategic legislative and policy advice to program areas and ministry leadership, including developing briefings, speaking notes, and high-level recommendations.
- Maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across all levels of government, as well as Indigenous communities and organizations.
- Oversee information and data management, ensuring legislative documentation meets ministry standards.
- Supervise and mentor the Indigenous Legislative Analyst team, providing coaching, professional development, and performance management.
- Support the Director in the strategic oversight of the Legislative Services Unit, including planning, reporting, and acting on their behalf when needed.
- Monitor developments related to the Indigenous Modernization of Alberta’s Primary Health Care System (MAPS) and ensure legislative alignment.
