Salary range: The salary range for this position is CAD $33.99 - $35.58 / hour Why Fraser Health?: Curious to learn what it’s like to work here? **Connect with us** To learn more about our MHSU programs and services, read employee insights, and current job vacancies, please visit this site**:Fraser Health MHSU** Detailed Overview: The Peer Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and promoting the meaningful engagement of people with lived experience of substance use (referred to as "peers") in harm reduction policy and program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation within Fraser Health and partner organizations. The Peer Coordinator works in partnership with other members of Fraser Health Programs/Services and external community partners. The Coordinator develops implements and evaluates strategic plans, goals, objectives, resources and tools to incorporate peer involvement into program and service delivery and participates in the identification, training and support of peers across Fraser Health Region. The Peer Coordinator acts as a resource and educator for internal and external partners with respect to Peer Engagement. **Responsibilities**: - Working in partnership with other members of Fraser Health Programs/Services and external community partners. develops implements and evaluates strategic plans, goals, objectives, resources and tools to incorporate peer involvement into program and service delivery and participates in the identification, training and support of peers across Fraser Health Region. - Functions as a resource and educator for internal and external partners with respect to Peer Engagement. Coordinates and facilitates workshops and/or training sessions including logistics support, and content development, promotion and evaluation. - Identifies, orients, supports and trains peers; identifies opportunities for and responds to requests for peer involvement in internal FH or community led initiatives. This includes scheduling of peers, providing peer feedback and addressing any concerns, with Manager support as required. Coordinates payment for peers (e.g. stipends). - Ensures compliance with organizational policies relevant to peers; interprets policies for peers and advises of changes to policies. Formulates new Peer Resources policies in consultation with the Manager and Harm Reduction Coordinators. - Develops and coordinates peer steering committee/network; facilitates peer input into policy, communications, organizational change and standards. - Supports Harm Reduction Coordinators in peer development work, harm reduction distribution programs and overdose prevention sites in peer work. Acts as a resource for FH programs and staff regarding peer engagement. - Ensures the goals of the program are achieved and the evaluation process is established and carried out annually to measure program effectiveness. Develops feedback forms, ensures distribution and collection of evaluations forms, summarizes information. Conducts satisfaction surveys; obtains feedback and suggestions, compiles and distributes reports. - Participates in team planning and quality improvement activities; attends meetings and in-services, reviews team policies and procedures, provides input/recommendations to others regarding efficiency of processes/procedures relating to work duties. - Maintains knowledge base on current developments and evidence related to peer engagement, harm reduction and associated best practices. Identifies community learning needs or opportunities with respect to peer engagement; develops and delivers associated training or provides necessary support to address this. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications**:Education and Experience** Bachelor's Degree in Community Social Services, plus two (2) years' recent, related experience working with peers in community service work and providing health promotion and harm reduction education in the areas of substance use or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current BC Driver's License and access to a vehicle for business related purposes. **Skills and Abilities** - Knowledge of harm reduction principles and practices. - Knowledge of peer-driven interventions. - Demonstrated facilitation, leadership, public speaking and conflict resolution skills. - Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. - Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others. - Ability to plan, organize and prioritize. - Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients. - Ability to provide work direction. - Ability to analyze and resolve problems. - Ability to operate related equipment - Ability to prepare presentation, promotional material and business correspondence. - Ability to work under the pressure of interruptions and adapt to changes. - Ability to compile and present information. - Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
