Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations, this position is responsible for the construction, maintenance, operation and troubleshooting of electrical distribution system’s (overhead and underground) on all voltages. **KEY DUTIES** Construction, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance on electrical distribution systems overhead and underground on voltages (up to 50 kV), Install, repair and operate underground cables/equipment. Work duties will include but not be limited to the following - Erect Poles and associated structures for - Required work within Substations - Install conductors and associated apparatus - Perform assigned maintenance work, trouble-shoot and restore electric power during emergencies. - Understand and operate Aerial Devices and Radial Boom Derricks - Solve routine problems - Perform on-call duties (as Required) - Compliance and sign off to the construction verification program. O Reg. 2204 - CVOR checks/logs; track jobs hours for CVOR - Track personal job hours for timesheet (projects, etc.) - Mentor and/or train Apprentices - Provide input on the evaluation of Apprentices - Ensures the safe and efficient completion of tasks - Identify opportunities to improve business processes and advise supervisor of risks within business processes - Active participation in training, daily job planning, tailboard discussions, safety meeting and other safety initiatives **SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED** - The MEARIE Group Journeyperson Power Line Technician 434A - The Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities Power Line Technician Certificate (or equivalent) - Full certification in the Ontario Utility Work Protection Code (or willing and able to acquire within six months and maintain) - Working knowledge of the Electrical Utility Safety Rules and industry safe work practices - Proficient in the use of all tools and equipment associated with the trade - Up to date training of trade specific requirements and or the ability to obtain. - Valid Class "D" driver's license with "Z" endorsement A License is considered an asset - Able to work from work orders, specifications, standards and instructions and to interpret prints, sketches and diagrams - Strong communicator, excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills - A level of physical fitness essential to do the work including the ability to climb and work confidently at heights; and the willingness and ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions Pay: $23.96-$59.26 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Work Location: In person
