Certified Wastewater Operator

**Summary**:
This position is responsible for daily operations of environmental protection equipment and maintaining the requirements of Simplot’s environmental license.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Ensures that all company and plant environmental policies are adhered to, and is directly responsible for maintaining compliance with the facility’s environmental license.

Ensures operation and monitoring requirements have been met for environmental protection systems.

Ensures that equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner in order to maximize treatment efficiency and minimize treatment costs.

Maintains all equipment in good working order, or causes such maintenance as is required to be performed by competent people.

Dismantles, scrubs, and cleans equipment on a regular basis in order to maintain a clean work area, and ensures preventative maintenance of equipment is regularly occurring.

Demonstrates the ability to recognize and respond to all troubleshooting situations.

Must demonstrate understanding and the ability to discuss environmental systems, process, and equipment.

Ensures accuracy, completeness and timeliness of documents, testing, sampling, and recording.

Enters required data into Manufacturing Management Suite [MMS] and other systems in an accurate and timely manner.

Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge.

Ensures communication with the Water Treatment and Recovery Supervisor, Environmental Manager, Shift Manager, maintenance, and other facility staff on a regular basis throughout the shift to make them aware of any developments affecting the consistent management and functionality of the waste water treatment and waste handling systems.

Ensures no injury to self or others by following safe work practices and policies.

Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.

Conducts oneself in a professional manner and ensures appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function and while representing the company.

Must hold a Level 2 Wastewater Operator Certification. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Must possess good color perception and the ability to distinguish between different shades of color. Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in a manner to successfully perform the job duties. Must demonstrate ability to complete various math operations. (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averages, percentages, decimals, rounding, and conversions). Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must have good hand/eye coordination. Must have manual dexterity in both hands. Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time. Must be able to work in extreme environments: noisy, hot, cold, wet, and dusty and be able to work alone in remote outdoor areas with limited lighting. Must be able to work around strong, unpleasant odors such as spices, ammonia, and organic acids (strong vinegar-like odors). Must be able to work independently with mínimal supervision. Must demonstrate basic computer skills. Must be able to work with chemicals. Must be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb ladders, stairs and catwalks on a regular basis. Must have an acceptable safety record. Must have an acceptable attendance record. Adheres to all standards, policies and systems as appropriate.
