External Team Lead Position

Newmarket, Canada Inn From The Cold Full time

Inn From the Cold (IFTC) is a non-profit charitable organization located in Newmarket, ON. We provide a range of services and programming to address homelessness, the risk of homelessness, poverty, and social isolation in our community. This position’s hours range from 20-30 per week, depending on seasonal requirements. You will be working alongside another Team Lead and reporting to the IFTC Inn Team Coordinator. The rate of pay is $23.00/per hour.

This program provides those experiencing homelessness an opportunity to gain income, work experience and a chance to contribute back to the community. The Team Lead is responsible for the supervision, mentorship, and support of our Inn Team members. Additionally, the Team Lead will be asked to act as an employer or landlord reference for program participants when requested.

Inn Team members will gain experience and training in the general labour and odd job field. In addition, training will be administered to enhance participants' employability. Inn Team members receive honorariums for services rendered which will assist with the building blocks to attaining financial stability.

Shifts may vary over a 5-day work week with possible weekend shifts.

**Overview of the Position**:
The Team Lead will play a vital role in nurturing the growth and employability of the Inn Team members. The position requires that you:

- Lead by example and oversee Inn Team Members during their scheduled jobs
- Communicating with shelter/drop by staff regarding inn team schedules, general updates
- Pick up supplies at local warehouse as needed
- Train new Inn members
- Attend job sites
- Provide quotes for potential customers
- Provide excellent customer service
- Provide support, mentorship and assist with jobs performed
- Cultivate the Inn Team member skillsets
- Navigate and troubleshoot through challenges and concerns that may arise on the job internally
- First point of contact for external clients onsite as well as Inn Team members for missed shifts, shift availability
- Responsible for ensuring that the right equipment and materials are prepared for the Inn Team to carry out the job
- Be a role model and an ambassador for the Inn Team
- Attend and participate in Inn Team meetings, and meetings with the Program Coordinator for updates
- Be willing to take photos/videos for social media content
- Additional tasks as assigned

**Requirements**:

- Training or experience supporting vulnerable populations, and those facing barriers to employment
- University/College Degree or trade experience
- Experience leading a team in a dynamic setting
- Customer service skills and organizational skills
- Experience working in the general labour and odd jobs category is an asset
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work in a team setting
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driver abstract
- Flexible and adaptable
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills
- Tech savviness is an asset
- Valid G Driver's License
- Cleaning Driving Abstract
