**Job Title: Collection Specialist**

**Department**: Finance / Accounts Receivable
**Reports To**: Credit Manager

**Job Summary**:
The Collection Specialist is responsible for ensuring timely payment of outstanding accounts receivable from clients. This position involves direct communication with customers to resolve overdue accounts, negotiating payment plans where necessary, and maintaining accurate records of collection activities. The role is essential to maintaining healthy cash flow and minimizing bad debt exposure.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies or disputes in collaboration with internal departments (e.g., Sales, Customer Service, Projects).
- Maintain detailed documentation of collection activities in the accounting system
- Negotiate payment arrangements with customers and follow up to ensure adherence.
- Recommend accounts for escalation, legal action, or write-off where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with internal credit and collection policies and relevant regulatory guidelines.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes related to accounts receivable.
- Build positive working relationships with customers to facilitate long-term payment behavior improvements.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or credit control.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with accounting software
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

**Preferred Attributes**:

- Experience with construction, trade, or commercial accounts receivable processes.
- Familiarity with lien rights or legal collection processes would be an asset

Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
