This casual
- on call position consists of implementing 1:1 and group programs to meet the physical, cognitive, emotional, social and spiritual needs of seniors in a 156 bed complex care setting, including a 36 bed dementia care unit.

As a member of the recreation team you will carry out resident recreation programs such as arts and crafts, spirituality, music, discussions, sensory stimulation, sports, cooking, gardening, cognitive games, community outings/bus trips and exercises as directed. You’ll set up and organize furnishings and equipment for activity projects and remind and assist residents to the program area. You’ll teach the techniques of related activities to the residents and encourage their participation, adapting programs as required to meet resident needs.

You’ll provide direction to volunteers during recreation programs. You’ll participate in interdisciplinary conferences and complete related computerized documentation. Experience working with residents with dementia is an asset.

This position provides on-call coverage for 5 permanent staff with varied rotations. Day (9:00-5:00, 9:30-5:00, 9:30-4:00) and evening (11:15-7:15) shifts scheduled 7 days per week.

Education required:

- Successful completion of a recognized gerontology based therapeutic recreation assistant program
