The Opportunity:

We are currently looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Corporate Accounting Team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Senior Corporate Accountant, the Financial Analyst will play a key role in the budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close process of Emera’s corporate entities.
Key elements of this role include:
- Leading the preparation of the annual budget, semi-annual forecasts, and annual long-term forecast;
- Preparing monthly journal entries and detailed account reconciliations and analysis;
- Assisting with the preparation of the Company’s quarterly and annual external Financial Statements, Notes and Management Discussion and Analysis, as well as other quarterly deliverables;
- Assisting internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits;
- Responsibility for internal control over financial reporting in accordance with Emera’s SOX program;
- Collaborating with other Emera departments to provide financial information; and
- Preparing other ad hoc analysis and reports as required.

- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Commerce with 2+ years of related work experience and have completed or are working toward an accounting or financial designation (CPA or CFA);
- Experience in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting;
- Experience with financial reporting systems and Excel;
- Knowledge of the gas and utility industry would be considered an asset but is not required;
- Detail oriented and possesses strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, team-focused environment, with the ability to handle multiple deliverables and work independently under tight deadlines;
- Have a solid business acumen, is customer focused and innovative, with the ability to identify and implement improved processes.
