**Stone Hearth Bakery** Stone Hearth Bakery, Café, and Catering services are social enterprises operated by the not-for-profit MetroWorks Employment Association. Stone Hearth Bakery opened in 1982 and is a successful commercial bakery that operates a training program for individuals with barriers to employment. It is a supported work environment where program participants work and learn alongside skilled bakers. Our mission is to provide meaningful training and employment opportunities for individuals 19 years of age and older who are living with mental illness and experiencing barriers to employment. **Position Summary** The night baker will be responsible for production of our line of rye breads as well as other bread products. **Responsibilities of the role** - Work independently to mix, proof, and bake a line of rye breads nightly - Ensure proper proofing time of products. - Maintain quality of product by ensuring proper baking temperatures. - Remove product from ovens and place in proper cooling area. - Create batches to meet orders for the following day - Ensure timely & efficient completion of all production. - Monitor quality control. - Monitor inventory of baking supplies. - Maintain general list of supplies necessary to produce products. - Keep production areas generally tidy, equipment cleaned, and prepared for use. - Report any defects in products or machinery. - Cleaning of area before ending shift.**Qualifications** - 6 months to 2 years minimum experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role; - Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters; - Understanding of food safety practices; - Excellent time-management skills; - Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment; - Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude; - Flexibility to work in night/early morning shifts; - Certification from a culinary school is a plus; - Experience working with persons of marginalized backgrounds or experiencing barriers to employment is considered a plus. **Salary**: $16.00-$17.50 per hour
