EDUCATION:
Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position (such as but not limited to fish or wildlife biology, ecology, environmental science, or toxicology) or an employer-approved alternative*.
- The employer-approved alternative for the SE classification is an acceptable master’s or bachelor’s degree coupled with acceptable research, training and experience. The degree must be from a recognized post-secondary institution and in scientific fields and specialties related to the duties of the position. The training and experience must clearly demonstrate the ability to do personal research of doctoral degree caliber.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

- Significant* experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and program management in a science delivery environment.
- Experience providing scientific advice, briefings and recommendations to senior management (at the Director level or higher).
- Significant* experience in managing human**and financial resources**.
- Significant* experience in establishing or maintaining effective partnerships or collaborative programs with key internal and external stakeholders, including governments, indigenous groups, industry, or academia.
- Significant is defined as depth and breadth of complexity typically associated with having carried out these activities on a regular basis for a period of approximately two (2) years or more in the past 5 years.

**Human resource management may include planning, directing and coordinating activities related to the recruitment, performance and talent management, and learning and development of employees. Applicants must indicate the number of employees they have supervised.

**Financial resources management may include managing and being accountable for a budget, resource management and forecasting, planning, budget allocation and tracking of expenditures. Applicants must indicate the dollar value of budgets they have managed.

EXPERIENCE (ASSET):

- Experience managing multi-disciplinary research and program delivery in field and/or laboratory settings in terms of human resources, finances and infrastructure.
- Experience in strategic planning and priority setting.
- Experience in exercising positive leadership in the context of organizational changes and adjustments.
- Experience in dealing with sensitive or conflictual work situations.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEED

Operational requirements:

- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours on occasion.
