**Job Summary**

The medical receptionist assists the practice manager in the efficient day to day operation of a busy family practice. This includes planning, coordinating and scheduling. The receptionist is responsible for a number of duties to ensure the quality of patient visits and optimized work flow. These duties may change periodically as determined by management.

This is a full time position.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Monitor daily schedules, work load, assist practitioners with workload as required.
- Answering telephone calls, triaging appropriately, scheduling appointments, and greeting/checking in patients in an organized and timely fashion
- Coordinate patient flow for practitioners. Accurately assess workflow requirements to ensure there is little delay in patient care.
- Engage with practitioners to ensure they are prepared for patients.
- Greet and escort patients to exam rooms and establish profession rapport.
- Ensure exam rooms are prepared for practitioners.
- Promote a positive patient experience by providing efficient and informative patient interaction.
- Ensure timely indexing of medical reports to practitioners.
- Effectively provide immediate assistance or problem resolution to patient complaints.
- Arrange outpatient appointments.
- Special projects and other duties as required.
**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Minimum two years experience in a healthcare environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Secondary language is an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
- Minimum 40 WPM.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, management and peers.
- Professional attitude with a desire to continuously learn.
- Ability to handle constructive criticism and learn from past mistakes
- Able to use office equipment including computers and scanners. Ability to learn and be proficient with a new software.
- **Experience with Accuro EMR is preferred.**
**Work Demands**:

- Normal physical effort. Workflow varies
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, answering phones and typing
- Ability to perform manual tasks with dexterity
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs
