**Duties & Responsibilities**

**DUTIES**

**RESPONSIBILITIES***:

- Organize work of 5-person development team, including scheduling and resourcing operational activities, and queue management.
- Facilitate collaboration with developers, project managers, functional analysts, DBAs, and business owners.
- Lead complex development activities, working with the team to ensure acceptance criteria are met and in line with BCIT’s standards and procedures.
- Mature ITS in the implementation of development, testing, and deployment best practices within the team.
- Plan and manage execution of contained team-specific projects such as process improvement initiatives in triaging, queue handling, prioritization, and resource allocation.
- Work with the infrastructure team to resolve any architectural issues that impact product development and delivery.
- Work with the Manager, Solution Delivery to actively identify areas for improvement and help implement ideas and ensure that any individual performance deficiencies affecting the team are identified and mediated.

**Qualifications**

**REQUIRED**
***
**QUALIFICATIONS***:

- Institute of Technology diploma, or bachelor’s degree in science or business; and
- A minimum of six (6) years current relevant experience in an IT environment, including two (2) years in a supervisory role in a similar capacity preferably supervising teams within a large, complex, and unionized environment; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Excellent supervisory skills to manage teams in a complex unionized environment.
- Strong project management and delivery skills with ability to work with tight schedules.
- Proven commitment to providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to a wide and varying size of audience, including documentation and public facing communication channels.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines.
Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams.

**SPECIFICS***:

- Extensive experience with multiple programming languages, software development methodologies and styles.
- Experience supervising software developers and managing complex development projects.
- Ability to discern user requirements and develop specifications.
- Ability to encourage and get the most out of your team members.
- Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to set and manage priorities for both yourself, and your team.
- Expert-level experience with one or more of the following: Java, Grails, PL/SQL, PHP.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
- Extensive experience with quality assurance and user acceptance testing methodologies.
- Experience with DevOps and continuous integration and continuous delivery.
- Extensive experience with Jira/Git/Bitbucket

**Salary Range**
- Salary Range: $73,590 - $99,571 per annum.**Additional Salary Information**
- Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.Position Details
