As the Business Strategist, you will be responsible for providing ongoing strategic and operational support to Calgary Transit with a focus on both internal and external facing priority projects. In this role, you will create long-term strategies, research industry best practices, and analyze Calgary Transit data to develop political and strategic recommendations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, analyze trends, and formulate strategic positions. Primary duties include:
- Develop strategies and policies to guide business unit operations.
- Provide strategic and policy expertise, identify gaps, assess risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Document processes and standard operating procedures.
- Build relationships with City staff, business partners, and external organizations.
- Identify and evaluate existing/emerging issues and develops plans, strategies, and tactics to address issues and monitor for improvement/resolutions.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and deliver recommendations to divisional teams, business unit leadership, management teams and the public.
- Produce memos, strategies, plans, briefing notes, presentations, business cases, and data and financial analysis to meet Calgary Transits requirements.

**Qualifications**
- A degree in Commerce, Business Management, Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Public Policy, Economics, or another related discipline with at least 5 years of experience including strategic planning, business analysis, and policy development.
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.
- Experience with project management, change management, and/or process and service review and improvement initiatives will be given preference.
- Experience working in public transportation or with Council report writing are considered assets.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to provide guidance and foster change, political awareness, and a collaborative approach to working within a team. Strong analytical, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills as well as the ability to prioritize, build consensus among internal/external partners and influence without authority.

Compensation: Pay Grade 11 $44.76 - 59.84 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
