**Ministry Coordinator**

**Job Summary**:Reporting to the Managing Director, the Ministry Coordinator plays a central role in instilling hope by serving as a spiritual mentor and counselor to participants in both the shelter and supportive housing programs. The Coordinator is responsible for leading the ministry volunteer team, providing immediate spiritual support, mentorship and counsel as required, while building Christian partnerships in our community to coordinate and develop necessary spiritual care.

**Accountability**: Able to affirm The Lighthouse's vision, mission, and beliefs and demonstrate commitment to its values of trust, compassion, leadership, safety, and faith, including sensitivity to issues related to poverty, homelessness, mental illness, addictions, and developmental disabilities, and a commitment to a discrimination-free environment.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Ministry**
- Support Lighthouse participants, staff and volunteers with counsel, prayer and mentorship.
- Lead the ministry volunteer team through volunteer development, training, and recruiting.
- Develop mutual accountability with Lighthouse leadership and ministry volunteers for healthy self-care
- In collaboration with the Mental Health Services Director and under the direction of the Managing Director, develop and deliver spiritual and wellness training for staff and volunteers.
- Offer opportunities for those interested to grow in their faith and take steps toward becoming connected and engaged in a local church community.
- Coordinate pastoral opportunities (bible study, prayer, fellowship) and Christian program development in collaboration with The Lighthouse leadership, staff and partners.
- Cast vision of potential future ministerial needs and ensure that there is continued alignment with values.
- Develop outreach ministry opportunities.

**Christian Partnerships**
- Maintain and develop relationships with local churches through reports, prayer letters, and one-on-one meetings.
- Coordinate church pastors and volunteers in Christian programming, as well as a variety of operational volunteer opportunities in collaboration with the Volunteer Supervisor.
- Development of a scalable volunteer ministry team that ensures ongoing recruitment, training and development of ministry volunteer team members.
- Work in tandem with the local church to provide access to the faith community for staff volunteers and participants who seek it, and as people begin to engage and participate in local churches, facilitate the transfer of pastoral and congregational care.

**Administration**
- Keep detailed data of programs, participants, staff and volunteers reached.
- Keep detailed records of church contacts and partnerships.
- Schedule pastors/churches to attend The Lighthouse for outreach and pastoral care.
- Prepare and share monthly prayer and praise newsletter.
- Provide a full year end report.
- Complete reports as requested by the Managing Director or their delegate

**Qualifications**:

- A person who has a passion to share the gospel with the vulnerable population
- University degree in Christian ministry, or equivalent.
- 2-3 years’ experience in a related field.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and/or substance use challenges.
- Willing to adhere to the vision, mission and beliefs of The Lighthouse.
- High standard of integrity, judgment and confidentiality.
- Strong leadership skills
- Superior communication and active listening skills.
- Project management skills
- Community involvement and knowledge of community challenges in the area of homelessness.
- Able to focus on participant needs, foster teamwork, think strategically and creatively and make sound decisions.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Solid computer/internet skills; Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Sheets, etc.
- A valid Ontario driver’s license, liability insurance and access to vehicle an asset.
- Clean criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening.

As a Christian organization, we are not a church. However, our unique ministry allows us to present and practice the gospel of Christ and partner hand in hand with our local faith community. Because they are made in the image of God, we value all our participants, no matter their beliefs, choices, circumstances or values. This position is solely funded by the local church community.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $23.00 per hour
