**About the position**:
We are seeking a Payroll Administrator to join our growing team. You will be working both independently and as part of our finance and administration team to complete payroll administration and provide HR administration support.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the preparation and processing of both salary and hourly payroll for 50+ employees using Quickbooks desktop software.
- Reconcile payroll for payroll remittances; reconcile payroll deductions to general ledger accounts.
- Process payroll/benefit information for employees in accordance with appropriate regulations and authorized deductions.
- Determine benefit eligibility for employees and corresponding payroll deductions.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations and guidelines.
- Process remittances for Employer Health Tax, garnishments, and government remittances according to legislative requirements.
- Process other remittances directly relating to payroll, including ROE filing, preparation of T4's and summaries, and RRSP submittals.
- Process EFT transactions through payroll bank account.
- Respond fully to payroll & HR related inquiries from employees, supervisors.
- Accurately maintain electronic and paper filing systems related to pay and benefits, ensuring confidentiality and security of all documents and records.
- Completes and maintains various payroll, HR, and benefit reports and spreadsheets (ie. employee list, emergency contacts, headcount, hours report, attendance, turnover, etc.) and participates in payroll and benefits audits as required.
- Ensures vacation accruals are accurate and kept up-to-date, making changes to accrual rate as required.
- Track employee absences through the payroll software and record details about personal days, sick leave, jury duty, and extended leaves of absence.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
- Understanding/knowledge of payroll taxes and accounting and working knowledge of employee benefit programs.
- Experience with Quickbooks desktop software would be an asset.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization, in person and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability for attention to detail.
- Canadian Payroll Association Certification or working towards certification would be an asset.
- Intermediate to advanced software skills; Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
