**Job Summary**

The Yard Worker is an important part of our Order Building team.

The yard worker is responsible for accurately picking orders, organizing and tidying stock, ensuring product rotation (first in, first out) and being actively involved in the operations of the day.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Assist Order Builders/Forklift Operators prepare/package/stage orders.
- Build orders independently with strong attention to accuracy.
- Operate sit down counterbalance forklifts up to 15000 lb capacities.
- Assist customers in loading product safely and efficiently into/onto customer's vehicles.
- Check invoices and verify correct product is pulled and packaged as requested.
- Check delivery slips upon receipt of goods ensuring accuracy and condition
- Assist with the daily upkeep of the yard including organizing stock, cleaning debris, and maintaining pallets/stock, leveling and covering products to protect from weather.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment for employees and customers alike.
- Opening and closing duties as needed in the yard (opening/closing gates, securing tools, parking machines.
- Replenish product bins and areas as required and as needed.
- Perform other related duties.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Customer service oriented.
- Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions, year-round.
- 100% committed to a safe work environment.
- Ability to perform physical work with medium and heavy lifting on a regular basis, sometimes repetitious with weights ranging from 10 kgs to 40 kgs.
- Related construction/building product knowledge is an asset.
- Lumber sizes/grades/species knowledge is an asset. Specifically Western Red Cedar.
- Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently or with a team.
- Good attitude, work ethic/habits, appreciation for a job well done.
- Good comprehension of numbers and simple arithmetic, (multiplication/division/adding/subtracting/tallying) without calculators.
- Must be able to Read, Write, and Speak English clearly
- Forklift experience is highly desired.
