**Description**:
The Emergency Response Safety Coordinator is a self-motivated team leader who demonstrates familiarity and leadership in both the technical aspects of safety management, as well as strong coaching skills, knowledge in behavioral based safety and provides visible felt leadership. The role is site based and will report directly to the Manager of Health, Safety, Training and Emergency Response (HSTER).

The Emergency Response Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting, developing, administering, and implementing emergency response programs for both surface operations and underground operations as part of the HSTER team. The role will focus on building the emergency response capacity including training personnel, procuring equipment and building a safety culture around emergency response. Additionally the Emergency Response Safety Coordinator will be in the field helping the HSTER team with field level job observations, safety coaching, incident investigations, safety audits and other safety focused initiatives to support the Ascot safety culture. The focus of the role will be on site wide emergency response capacity building and program management, with auxiliary functions regarding on site safety support.

**Key Job Functions**:

- Provide leadership as a safety champion for all site safety procedures and the promotion of our safety culture.
- Maintain awareness of all relevant legislation including the Health and Safety Reclamation Code, Mines Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and other required legislation for British Columbia; and their implementation.
- Developing and implementing mine rescue plans and procedures in compliance with industry regulations and standards; including Pre-Incident Plans (PiPs) for high risk work areas and activities.
- Developing Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) in conjunction with HSTER and site contractors for both underground and surface work.
- Developing and implementing ERT and MRT Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training matrix, training records, equipment records and other departmental documentation required for effective management of emergency response.
- Conducting regular drills and training sessions to prepare both the surface ERT and underground MRT for emergency situations.
- Coordinating as incident commander with various stakeholders, including mine management, emergency services, and regulatory agencies, to ensure effective response and communication during emergencies.
- Routinely inspect and manage the preventative maintenance requirements for all emergency response equipment and tools including but not limited to: mine rescue team equipment, refuge stations, escapeways, self rescuers, first aid and AED equipment, eye wash stations, emergency showers, fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems and fire alarm systems.
- Assessing and evaluating potential risks and hazards in the mine, and implementing preventive measures to minimize the likelihood of accidents (PiPs).
- Maintaining and inspecting rescue equipment, ensuring its readiness and compliance with safety standards.
- Leading and directing mine rescue teams during emergency response operations, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Conducting post-incident analysis and debriefings to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Keeping up-to-date with industry best practices, regulations, and technological advancements related to both surface and mine rescue operations.
