**Land Steward**:
Katzie Lands and Civil Service department is looking for an experienced and driven Land Steward to join the team.

Working closely with proponents, KFN staff, community members and leadership the Land Steward will help educate and encourage compliance with KFN Lands laws, environmental policy, and best practices, as well as any applicable provincial or federal environmental laws, policies, best practices etc.

**JOB TITLE**: Land Steward
**DEPARTMENT**: Lands & Civil Service
**LOCATION**: Lands Office
**REPORTING TO**: Capital Project Manager

**AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY**
- Support the Lands Manager in developing, refining, and implementing KFN, Laws, Lands Development procedures, Land Use Plans, Environmental Management Plans and work plans.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain records related to environmental and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare written, oral, tabular, and graphic reports to the KFN Lands Manager, Chief and Council, and Lands Advisory Committee (LAC).
- Liaise with proponents, contractors and consultants on coordinating required works and completing required assessments, reports and certificates as needed under KFN Law
- Investigate complaints and suspected violations, e.g., illegal dumping, pollution, improper environmental protections, etc.
- Observe and record field conditions, gathering, interpreting, and reporting data.
- Perform Emergency Operations Centre functions, as the need arises (training provided)

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- Minimum two years experience with a First Nations Land Code or the equivalent experience in a land stewardship/enforcement role.
- Previous experience in land stewardship enforcement or background in security is an asset.
- Knowledge of permit processing, bylaw enforcement, land use planning, lands registration.
- Knowledge of Coast Salish/First Nation cultural protocols and traditions is an asset
- Strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact with a diverse group of people, both internally and in public.
- Demonstrated experience with de-escalation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Creative thinker, able to research, analyze and interpret data.
- Ability to prioritize and complete tasks on a timely basis.
- Completion of secondary school
- Class 5 BC Drivers License

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
- Minimal day-to-day supervision with high expectations of work produced.
- Travel in this position may be required (e.g., for meetings).
- Satisfactory criminal records check, including vulnerable populations must be provided before work can commence.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- The referrals office is on Katzie IR1 in Pitt Meadows.
- Expected work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 - 4:00; additional hours as required for meetings and travel.

**Salary**: $25 - $30 per hour
