**Position Summary**:
This is a unique position that has responsibilities working half-time as an Intake Worker in the Nalah Centre and half-time as a Domestic Violence Court Support Worker in the Domestic Violence Complainant Assistance Program (DVCAP).
Nalah Centre coordinates referrals from Edmonton Police Service Domestic Offender Crime Section (EPS DOCS) to the Justice Support Workers (JSW). Every victim is assigned to a JSW to have access to effective, professional, ongoing client centre support, and a voice while going through the domestic violence criminal court process.
DVCAP is a program of the Family Violence Prevention Centre provides: court preparation, orientation, and accompaniment, ongoing emotional support, risk assessment and safety planning, liaising with the crown prosecutor’s office and providing information on rights for the victim.
**Responsibilities**:
- Nalah:_
- Review and respond to Crown referral, Crime & Trauma-Informed Support Services and other Agency requests such as EPS member, community agency requests.
- Receive and review EPS DOCS file summaries and assist in coordinating file assignments to the Justice Support Worker.
- Work with Nalah Coordinator and/or FVPC Manager on other administrative duties as assigned.
- Attend family violence docket court on a regular basis to gather outcomes for client updates.
- Deliver ongoing services using a client-centered, strength-based approach consistent with the agency and program philosophy.
- Liaison with professionals who participate in the Early Case Resolution process, including but not limited to: JSWs, EPS DOCS, Probation, Children Services, Crown Prosecutors and Defence.
- DVCAP:_
- Deliver ongoing services using a client-centered, strength-based approach consistent with the agency and program philosophy.
- Safety planning and ongoing monitoring of risk and safety.
- Provide information on the impact of family violence on individuals and children.
- Inform clients of and assist with accessing victim service programs (Financial Benefits, Victim Impact Statements, Restitution).
- Provide brief and ongoing court support (preparation, orientation, and accompaniment) and follow-up support as required and keep clients informed on their court matters.
- Provide referrals to other resources as appropriate.
- Liaison with the Crown Prosecutors’ office.
- Comply with Health and Safety regulations of the Alberta Law Courts Building.

- Maintain accurate and timely data collection, data entry and completion of any program assessments and surveys as per agency and program policy.
- Maintain and monitor all file documentation as per program/agency policy.
- Complete monthly agency employee requirements.
- Deliver services in accordance with unit and agency policy and procedures.
- Communicate pertinent information to other staff as necessary.
- Contribute to overall risk management.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with external agencies and partners.
- Be a positive ambassador for the agency and engage in agency activities, unit and staff meetings.
- Contribute to overall agency mission, vision, and values.
- Participate in core agency training and additional ongoing training opportunities as directed and approved.
- Other duties as directed by supervisor.
**Qualifications / Skills**:
- Diploma in related human services field with 2 years’ experience in working with victims of family violence.
- Knowledgeable and experienced working in the Criminal Justice System including use of JOIN (Justice Online Information Network).
- Professionalism within all aspects of employment and able to contribute to a positive team environment.
- Thorough understanding of victimization and the dynamics of domestic violence.
- Assessment, interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and engagement skills.
- Thorough understanding of family violence dynamics.
- Experience working with diverse populations and ability to provide culturally relevant services.
