**Job Description - Vehicle Attendant / Lot Manager** **Functions**: - New Vehicle Check-In - Retail Trades Acceptance - Vehicle Cleanliness - Retail Appearance - Maintenance - Miscellaneous Errands **Competencies**: - Adaptability - Analysis - Continuous Improvement - Customer Enthusiasm - Judgement and Decision Making - Organizing and Planning - Teamwork - Communication **Reports to**: - Sales Manager, - General Manager **Management/Business Skills Required**: - Ability to pay attention to details - Ability to listen and understand information and directions communicated by others - Ability to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission - Knowledge of dealership vehicles - Knowledge of dealer trade procedures - Knowledge of vehicle detailing procedures - Knowledge of stock number procedures - Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously - Ability to reprioritize tasks or activities due to changing circumstances or requests - Ability to treat others with courtesy and respect - Ability to build effective work relationships with others - Ability to work cooperatively as a team member - Ability to operate buffing wheels, wash machines, and handle chemicals - Knowledge of safety procedures for handling equipment and chemicals **Work Orientation Factors** - Flexible hours - Frequent but brief customer contact - Some weekend work - Predictable work schedule - Subject to constant interruptions - Works outside in various weather conditions - Drives various kilometres to other locations - Frequent contact with Sales and Service Consultants and Sales and Service Managers - Perform miscellaneous tasks as requested **Position Summary** - The Vehicle Attendant:_ - Checks the delivery log daily. - Alerts Sales Consultants that sold units are arriving. - Physically checks new vehicles into the dealership, noting and reporting any damage from transit. - Prepares stock folders for new vehicles. - Assigns stock numbers to each new vehicle, puts the number in the vehicle window, and ensures that the proper keys are in the vehicle. - Identifies keys with proper tags for new vehicles. - Prepares vehicle "wash-out". - Notes that the appropriate accessories have been installed in vehicles. - Ensures that service orders are written for preps. - Parks vehicles in inventory, in stock for new vehicles, or in the service area for vehicles being serviced. - Checks dealer trade vehicles for possible damage. - Ensures that the Owner's Manual and appropriate accessories are in the vehicle. - Completes the odometer statements for all outbound and inbound vehicles. - Parks dealer trade vehicles in inventory. - Drives dealer trade vehicles to other dealerships when requested. - Washes and waxes new vehicles and dresses the tires. - Ensures that engines and trunks are properly detailed. - Double-checks fluid levels in newly sold vehicles. - Vacuums and washes the windows (inside and outside) of newly sold vehicles. - Ensures that newly sold vehicles have full gas tanks prior to delivery to customers. - Checks to ensure that Technicians have accurately completed PDI (pre-delivery inspection) forms. - Drives vehicles from Technicians' stalls to the service parking area. - Washes serviced vehicles and moves them to the service parking area. - Drives service/repair customers to their homes or place of employment. - Runs miscellaneous errands for the dealership. - Assists in ensuring the neat appearance of the dealership (e.g., picks up litter, shovels snow off vehicles, wipes off showroom vehicles, cleans offices, windows). - Assists in directing traffic for service events. - Changes license plates of sold vehicles when requested. - Replaces trade vehicles' retail plate frames. **What the Worker is Like?** - The Vehicle Attendant:_ - Typically is a high school graduate (though part-time Vehicle Attendants may still be in high school). - Has maintained a safe driving record and has a valid driver's license. - Works closely with Sales and Service Consultants and with Sales and Service Managers, New and Used Vehicle Managers, and business office personnel. - Must work quickly when checking in and cleaning vehicles. - Must be detail-oriented, thorough, and able to work independently. - Must be comfortable in taking directions from others. - Must be able to communicate with customers in a courteous manner. - Is able to effectively communicate with others in the dealership. - Must be task-oriented and well organized. - Must be capable of effectively managing his or her time. **What the Work is Like?** - The work of the Vehicle Attendant:_ - Is detail-oriented in that this person checks in new vehicles and dealer trades for any noticeable damage. - Involves ensuring that dealer trades are promptly and accurately checked into the dealership. - Involves safely driving dealer trades to other dealerships. - Entails detailing and gassing newly sold vehicles. - Involves safely driving customers to and from the dealership. - Involves drivi
