- Reporting to the Manager, Student Housing Services, the Residence Life Facilitator is a live-in professional position that is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Residence community while also implementing a diverse array of engagement-focused programming that promotes student success and learning. The Residence Life Facilitator oversees the day-to-day coordination of Student Housing Services’ Residence Life program and provides supervision to support staff and to a team of student Residence Advisors who support this program.
- The Residence Life Facilitator provides on-call support to the Residence community and regularly responds to escalated crises and emergencies on behalf of Student Housing Services. As such, this position requires a combination of regular office-hours and evening, weekend, and holiday coverage, for which the Residence Life Facilitator is provided a furnished, bachelor-style apartment in residence.**What you’ll do**
- Programming and Community Development:
- Develops and reviews the Residence student development model, ensuring that programming is consistent with best practices and theory.
- Oversees student-led programming designed to provide learning and engagement opportunities that are targeted to the needs of a diverse Residence community.
- Develops student learning outcomes for residence students and assesses and evaluates student learning and engagement in Residence.
- Tracks the Residence programming budget and approves expenditures by student staff members. Provides regular budgetary updates to the Manager, Student Housing Services.
- Maintains a regular visibility within the Residence community both during and outside of regular office hours. Attends community events to support the needs of students.
- Develops and leads programming to welcome and orient new students to residence.
- Initiates and maintains partnerships within the campus and community that support the Residence Life program.

Support Staff and Student Staff Development:
- Provides supervision to the support staff and the Residence student staff team and administers the recruitment, evaluation, discipline and grievance procedures in consultation with the Manager, Student Housing Services.
- Responsible for the planning and delivery of a comprehensive training program for Residence student staff to take place in August of each year.
- Provides regular on-going training and professional development opportunities for support staff and student staff throughout the academic year.
- Develops learning outcomes for support staff and student staff and actively assesses and evaluates the effectiveness of these outcomes.
- Initiates support staff and student staff recruitment efforts and coordinates the process for hiring new student staff.
- Provides regular feedback to support staff and Residence student staff, including a comprehensive performance evaluation. Supports staff and student staff in developing personal and shared goals.
- Conducts regular team and one-on-one meetings with support staff and student staff members to provide support, coaching, and team building.
- Oversees the development and fulfillment of the support staff and student staff on-call schedule and provides on-call support to staff and student staff during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Student Conduct, Student Support, and On-Call Response:
- Responds to and investigates student behavioural conduct concerns within the Residence community. Interprets and administers departmental policies and procedures to ensure the proper management of such concerns.
- Develops conduct sanctions that are collaborative and educational in nature, with a focus on student learning as a primary outcome of the conduct process.
- Tracks incidents of student conduct violations and provides regular reports to the Manager, Student Housing Services.
- Provides student support in the residence community regarding concerns related to mental wellness, accessibility needs, sexual violence, substance use, and other concerns, and refers to campus and community resources where appropriate.
- Intervenes in escalated conflict or crisis situations that occur in residence or between residence students.
- Provides 24/7 On-Call coverage to the residence community, responding to emergencies related to facilities or persons. Maintains a 45 minute maximum incident response time and refrains from activities th
