**Job Title: Design Assistant**

As a Design Assistant you truly need to be a jack of all trades. You will be responsible for the front-end and back-end of events including: event design, sketching, rendering designs, site visits, client consultations, curation, inventory selection, event execution. On site you will take a leadership role in ensuring the event is executed in accordance with the Design Plan. You will be the point of contact for Event Decorators who will be setting up the event with you. We often work under a time crunch and thinking on your feet to resolve any issues that may arise and communicating clearly to the team will be imperative. You will need to make decisions and swift changes when on site and ensure all details of the Design Plan are executed with finesse. The job description/ duties are as follows:
**YOUR ROLE**:

- Create Design Plans for events including renderings, layout plans, sketches, colour palette selections, mood boards, etc.
- Attend site visits and take thorough notes
- Update project progress continuously
- Schedule and conduct client design meetings in a timely manner
- Stay apprised of progress of Design Plans for your portfolio of clients
- Provide insightful feedback to Lead Designers and/or client
- Communicate with other vendors as required
- Help with event prep including inventory selection, floral arrangements, etc.
- Communicate with Event Decorators (set-up and strike down teams) to ensure smooth execution of events
- On-site event set up (full scope from packing/unpacking the decor to installing decor elements)
- Ensuring all Event Decorators are executing the event according to the Design Plan
- On-site event strike
- down (packing up decor after completion of event) and ensuring the strike down team has collected all decor items
- Keep track of allocation of inventory items for various clients

**MUST HAVES**:

- Knack for beautiful design
- Minimum 1 year experience in a related field
- Valid BC Drivers License Class 5 with personal vehicle
- Valid COVID 19 Vaccine Passport.
- Instinctively creative
- Self-starter and team player
- Working under time pressure
- People person with outstanding communication skills
- Positive attitude with a willingness to help wherever needed
- Knowledge of Indesign/Photoshop and Sketchup (or similar software)
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Minimum 1 year experience in design

**The Following Is An Asset**:

- Experience in backdrops and full room draping.
- Ability to speak multiple languages.
- Experience in site supervision.
- Experience in client care and customer service.

**Time Schedule**:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Overnight shift
- Flexible availability is essential.
- Must be available weekday and weekends including major holidays.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $16.00-$20.00 per hour
