**We are currently seeking a mature individual to join our team as a Customer Service/Lumber Desk Associate.**

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Sales:_
- Perform all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy.
- Communicate special orders for non-stock or out of stock items.
- Be familiar with and maintain up to date information on pricing types.
- Prepare quotations, place special orders for customers.
- Provide solutions to customers’ concerns.
- Respond to formal complaints to maintain customer loyalty at the highest possible level.
- Maintain community relations to build and enhance the image of Home Hardware Building Centre.
- Building Material Knowledge:_
- Understand and interpret local building codes.
- Keep up to date on pricing, practices and policies of company competitors.
- Maintain practical knowledge of building materials and lumber products including uses, advantages and disadvantages.
- Have familiarity with current yard inventory and surplus items.
- General:_
- Maintain professional confidentiality of all store and customer records.
- Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as processing paperwork.
- Operate two-way radio and cellphone to receive instruction and provide updates.
- Attend store meetings, training sessions, etc. as required.
- Work on additional duties, special projects and assignments as assigned by the Pro-Desk Manager, General Manager or Owners.
- Always maintain professional demeanour and behave in a manner befitting company policy and expectations.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance to provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected.

**Qualifications and Experience Required**:

- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role.
- Working knowledge of retail sales, execution, staffing and financial principles.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, delegate and follow-up on team activities and projects.
- Knowledge of market trends and competition in the retail industry.
- Ability to understand and operate POS, inventory computer systems, Microsoft Office required.
- Experience in other HHBC or similar stores an asset.
- Strong customer service experience.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Must read, comprehend and interpret written and printed materials, and information provided in numerical and statistical form.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Willingness to learn and continually develop professional skills and knowledge base.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
