**Please submit your resume with a cover letter.**
**In your cover letter please include your answer to the following question**:
- **What motivates you to come to work every day?**
Uproot Food Collective is a fast-growing, local business which manufactures gourmet frozen food products including Honest Dumplings, South Island Pie and Natural Kitchen Delights chocolates. Our brands are rooted in a belief that to create premium quality products we have to use premium quality ingredients - which includes the hard work that goes into each and every bite that leaves our kitchen.
Joining a growth company is exciting and lots of hard work. None of us could do this alone so it’s a team effort and we are not afraid to jump in when things need to get done, from washing dishes in the kitchen to delivering products to grocery stores - we are all on the same team The start-up culture isn’t for everyone but we’re all excited to be here, every day, and if you would be as well, give us a shout
Your Role
You will be working in our production facility which is an AHS certified kitchen with HACCP program. Your key role in the kitchen includes:
- Complete HACCP checklists
- Record information in our HACCP software
- Make dough
- Work on the production lines of manufacturing dumplings, pies and chocolates
- Operate sheeter, dumpling machine and pie machine
- Grind meat
- Make dumpling and pie fillings
- Package dumplings, pies, and chocolates
- Daily cleaning
- General cleaning and sanitizing
We can’t pretend it’s going to be glamorous, so we won’t. It will be hot, it will be tiring, but if we all do our part it should also be a lot of fun
Our Offer
Uproot Food Collective wants to be a great place to work. We offer staff perks including free dumplings, pies and chocolates, free products from Uproot Food Store, and staff discounts on everything in our store. (By the way, we also have an Uproot Food Store that has hundreds of local food products)
Our kitchen shifts are normally between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Different shifts/Overtime may be required.
The Basics
- You need to be certified in food safety. We take that very seriously. If you aren’t certified, we will help you get there but you gotta have the papers to work with us.
- You need to be a knife expert. Just kidding. But having experience in kitchen procedures is a huge asset because you’ll be doing prep work like cutting, mixing, and cooking.
- Serious bonus points if you have worked in a food manufacturing facility, led a kitchen team or have HACCP experience.
- You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs (because sometimes food is heavy) alone or with help.
- Have basic math, reading and writing skills.
- Be available to work varying shifts.
Recipe for Success
- Have passion for food
- Show hustle while we crush team goals
- Throw positive vibes (and know when you’re not)
- Ready and willing to learn and grow
- Ability to pay attention to details
- Flexibility in overcoming challenges
- Be obsessed with delivering the best to our awesome customers
