Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for Canada, including Quebec, ensuring timely and accurate pay cycles (on-cycle and off-cycle).
- Prepare reports summarizing company earnings, taxes, deductions, overtime, leave, bonuses, disability payments, and non-taxable wages.
- Prepare and submit year-end employee tax slips and government filings (T4, T2200, ROE, etc.) to meet strict deadlines.
- Liaise directly with Canadian agencies such as CRA, Revenu Québec, CNESST, and Service Canada.
- Maintain confidential information in accordance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Ensure payroll compliance with Canadian provincial and federal regulations; keep current on changes impacting payroll.
- Support expatriate payroll activities in coordination with tax advisors.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and external vendors to manage payroll-related benefits programs (RRSP/DPSP, pension).
- Conduct payroll reconciliations, audits, and year-end processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase data integrity and efficiency.
- Generate ad hoc payroll and compliance reports for senior leadership.
- Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies, resolve employee inquiries, and manage escalations.
- Support system upgrades and implementations (Ceridian/Dayforce, ADP Workforce Now, or similar).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and payroll experience).
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in payroll processing management.
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Canadian payroll processing, with demonstrated expertise in Quebec.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP - U.S.) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP - Canada).
- Strong working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce (must reference both “Ceridian” and “Dayforce”).
- Bilingual language skills, verbal and written in French & English.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Advanced problem-solving, research, and analytical skills.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
