Quality Control Technician

**Primary Focus**:
This position is accountable to carry out critical inspections in accordance with standards and procedures, and that they are reported and documented as per The Little Potato Company Quality Assurance program. This position implements, maintains, and improves quality processes to focus on product integrity and reliability. The position will also be responsible for performing in a manner that protects food safety and the quality of LPC's product.
**This is a Night shift position from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.**
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Conduct pre-operational checks in wash line.
- Evaluate quality and size of in-process potatoes as per established procedures and standards.
- Daily operations, monitoring and set up of sorting equipment for quality and size sorting.
- Perform adjustments to sorting equipment based on quality and sizing evaluation results or as necessary.
- Create and/or modify product programs on sorting equipment, as necessary.
- Interpret sorting equipment results and captured data.
- Troubleshooting and daily calibration of sorting equipment.
- Monitor sprout inhibitor consumption.
- Maintain proper documentation.
- Report deviations to QA Management and/or Plant Management.
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities as assigned.
**Desired Qualifications**:
- Experience in the food industry is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Technical skill and basic mechanical aptitude are an asset.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices in food manufacturing is as asset.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or examine and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, bend, climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Exertion of physical strength to push, pull, move, and lift objects up to 25 pounds from one level to another at varying heights. Specific vision abilities required by this job.
