We are seeking a Waterway Community Engagement Advisor to join our Asset Management Division. Under the general direction of the Section Head, Waterway Community Engagement, and Manager, Waterway Approvals & Monitoring, the Waterway Community Engagement Advisor will take a lead role in developing and implementing engagement processes and initiatives with Indigenous communities and interested parties of hydro system waterways ("waterway community"). **_ Responsibilities:_** - Provide strategic support and expertise related to public community engagement on a range of topics and issues associated with MH's generation operations. - Assume a lead role in supporting the department's engagement activities related to the expansion of the Coordinated Aquatic Monitoring Program (CAMP) and other corporate engagement initiatives such as the Water Regime Review and Engagement Committees. Act on behalf of the Section Head as required. - Develop and implement engagement plans for generation capital and maintenance projects as per the Section's Public and Indigenous Engagement Screening (PIES) process. - Provide content expertise and guidance to management ensuring engagement requirements are completed according to best practices. - Write briefing materials, recommendations, or discussion papers at a high degree of accuracy for internal and external audiences, including undertaking any associated advanced analysis or research. - Expand waterway community participation in Water Power Act (WPA) licensing and develop responses to correspondence and inquiries from regulators, waterway communities, and other interested parties. - Develop collaborative working relationships, internally and externally, to identify and incorporate best practices in areas of public engagement. - Liaise with other relationship holders across the corporation to coordinate activities and ensure focus on strategic outcomes with external interested parties. - Establish relationships and work directly with leadership and senior representatives of the waterway community including government (First Nations, Métis, federal, provincial, municipal), resource user groups, regulatory agencies, and environmental organizations, on engagement associated with WPA licensing, capital and maintenance generation projects, and water regime issues and concerns. - Coordinate with operation planners and forecasters on issue management and response relating to hydro system waterway engagement, particularly surrounding extreme water events (drought, flood) and develop a detailed technical understanding of hydro waterway system operations in collaboration with internal technical experts to communicate with external interested parties in plain language. **_ Qualifications:_** - Four-year degree in Resource Management, Environmental Science, or related specialty from an institute of recognized MANITOBA HYDRO IS COMMITTED TO DIVERSITY AND EMPLOYMENT EQUITY Reference Code: CO56851879-01 standing, plus a minimum of five years related experience, including three years of working closely with Indigenous organizations. - Understanding of Manitoba Hydro's hydraulic system of waterways and Manitoba Hydro's history with Indigenous peoples along those waterways including awareness of and demonstrated sensitivity to their values, beliefs, rights, interests, and aspirations. - Exceptional writing, editing and oral communication skills, with demonstrated experience in developing a range of communication materials for internal and external audiences, including briefing materials, recommendations, reports, presentations, correspondence, plain language documents. - Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with staff, senior management, consultants, government, - Experience working with Indigenous peoples, particularly in Manitoba, would be an asset. - Possess a high degree of initiative and experience with engagement and communication, including making public - presentations and responding to public inquiries.- Demonstrated ability to handle material which is highly confidential in nature. - International Associatio
