We are looking for a Community Centered Support Worker A person that is passionate about animals, crafts and trying new things. You are well connected in the community and enjoys spending time with others You are a person who is friendly and have strong interpersonal skills. You see potential in people and situations; leaning towards the positive side of things, you have a knack for encouragement.

If this sounds like you, here is how you fit in:
A kind, creative, and motivated woman in her early 20s, who lives in Whitby, is looking to engage with an interactive and easy-going support worker, who can spend time with her willing to work on long term goals and has an interest in cooking, painting, ceramics.

This position would be best suited for a person who is looking for flexible and reliable casual work hours. In this role, you will support this woman by spending time with her once or twice a week to assist her with cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping and exploring her hobbies and interests. Currently, this person would like support with exploring their care-taking duties of a new puppy.

You will work within a strengths-based approach, embracing the inclusion and inclusive practices that create and foster welcome, connection, and confidence. You should have good communication skills, including the ability to communicate via text message. This is an opportunity for you to support someone to be a part of their community, in doing so you would assist them in building their community connections.

If you believe you are a self-starter that is caring and enjoys connecting with people, this could be the role for you You will work alongside her for 5 hours a week. The specific hours and days worked can be scheduled in advance by mutual agreement.

Key Requirements:
1. Travel is required, class G Ontario Drivers Licence

2. Completion of Vulnerable Sector Police check

3. Committed to respectful and strength based, person-centred approaches

4. Ability to find community engagement opportunities and events on a regular basis

5. Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19

Assets:
1. Committed to holistic health, wellness, and fitness

2. Comfortable around dogs

3. Enjoy crafts-ceramics, knitting, quilting...etc.

4. Good with a sewing machine

Hourly Rate:

- $18/hr

This position works directly with a family and is not considered an employee of Durham Association for Family Resources and Support

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 5 per week

**Salary**: $18.00 per hour
