**Job Description**:
**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Regional Director, Quality Improvement and Project Management, the **Quality Improvement Lead **will support RVH’s MY CARE strategy by developing a culture of quality improvement. Using the organization’s quality framework, this role will focus on leading quality initiatives, sharing quality improvements across departments, and providing coaching to leaders and staff to promote a culture of continuous improvement.

RVH is a regional health centre and supports the quality initiatives of partner hospitals and other healthcare agencies. Access to reliable transportation for travel to partner sites may be required. During critical implementation periods, the ability to work off-hours and/or non-business hours may be required. Currently, the Quality Improvement Lead position works onsite together with colleagues and teams, with an option to work-from-home on a part-time basis as work deliverables allow.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Undergraduate degree in a health-related field, leadership or quality improvement required
- Lean, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Quality Improvement certification strongly preferred
- Change Management certification a strong asset
- Coaching certification a strong asset
- Teaching and training certification a strong asset

**Experience**:

- 5 years of experience leading and supporting major change initiatives, preferable within an acute healthcare setting
- Working knowledge of quality improvement plans
- Experience in conducting root cause analysis and implementing quality improvement methodologies such as Lean, Model for Improvement and Six Sigma
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning styles and facilitating instructional skills
- Working knowledge of regulatory bodies and current legislation of governing health care facilities (e.g. Public Hospital Act, Quality of Care Information Protection Act)

**Responsibilities**:

- Identify, prioritize, and lead quality improvement initiatives
- Lead QUEST Quality Improvement Workshops
- Support leaders with Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) indicators to ensure the organization achieves indicator targets
- Providing coaching to leaders and staff to promote a culture of continuous improvement
- Promote sharing of quality improvements across departments
- Lead, support, embed, evaluate and continually improve the organizational Quality Plan
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders on the implementation of the organization's Quality Plan
- Coordinate and drive continuous quality improvement through development, implementation and improvement of the quality, safety and enterprise risk management plans
- Participate in Quality Care Reviews (QCRs), utilizing gap analysis and working to promote quality improvement
- Support leaders in developing quality improvement plans to implement QCR recommendations in a timely manner
- Provide onsite support to front-line staff to ensure quality and safety guidelines are being met in accordance with hospital standards
- Support a “safety is our promise” environment, consult with and provide advice to organizational leaders regarding error prevention strategies; design programs that employ best practices to reduce preventable adverse events across the organization
- Take a lead role in strengthening a culture of patient safety which encourages prevention, reduces errors and safeguards patients from harm
