The Huron Community Association offers a variety of different activities for adults and youth of all ages.

The HCA is looking for staff who are organized, motivated to participate, and skilled at being asset builders for children and youth. You may be asked to also supervise additional volunteers.

Major Responsibilities:

- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities for children ages 4-12 years for the Children's Science Program ( Junior Science 4-5yr olds / Kids Science 6-8 yr olds / Sr. Science 9-12yr olds).
- Participants in the Junior & Kids Science Programs will get to be curious and explore science with age-appropriate lessons and fun hands-on experiments Get ready for things to grow explode and splatter
- Participants in the Senior Science Program will do interactive learning while participating in hands-on science experiments. Sr. scientists will learn, design and create their own fun science experiments using a variety of materials.
- The instructor will be responsible for creating Science Programs ahead of the session start and provide a list of all supplies required for the programs
- Organize unique science activities for each day of the program that are age appropriate
- Foster the development of friendships, celebration of creativity, and increasing of self-esteem amongst the participants
- Coordinate child centered programming and ensure that supplies are available
- Provide coordination, support and leadership to the other program staff and volunteers.
- Act as a positive role model for program staff, volunteers, and participants
- Implement positive and effective behaviour management strategies

Qualifications:

- Knowledge and experience in child programming, specifically around science projects
- Must possess relevant leadership, administration, supervision, communication, social development and positive behaviour management skills
- Experience leading a club or relevant activities an asset
- Standard First-Aid Certificate, or willing to obtain
- Police check required upon offer of employment
- Ability to work independently and purchase supplies within a budget
- Own transportation to program location will be required

Recommended age: 18 years of age and older

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 - 8 per week

**Experience**:
