Food Service Supervisor

**Job Overview**:
The Food Service Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the restaurant's food service staff to ensure high standards of customer service, food quality, hygiene, and safety. This role includes supervising staff, managing inventory, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and supporting the restaurant’s operational efficiency
1. **Staff Management**
- Supervise kitchen and dining area staff during shifts
- Create and manage staff schedules
- Train new team members and ensure performance standards are met
2. **Customer Service**
- Ensure excellent service delivery at all times
- Resolve customer complaints or escalate when needed
- Monitor dining area for guest satisfaction
3. **Food Quality & Safety**
- Oversee food prep and presentation for consistency and quality
- Enforce food safety standards (e.g., temperature checks, cross-contamination prevention)
- Ensure cleanliness of kitchen and service areas
4. **Inventory & Supplies**
- Track stock levels of ingredients and supplies
- Order items as needed and verify deliveries
- Prevent waste and manage cost control practices
5. **Compliance & Regulations**
- Ensure the restaurant meets health code and safety regulations
- Maintain necessary documentation (cleaning logs, temperature records)
- Stay updated on local food service laws and requirements
6. **Daily Operations**
- Open or close the restaurant, ensuring readiness for service
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and post-shift reviews
- Report daily activity to upper management
7. **Team Leadership**
- Motivate staff and maintain a positive work environment
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism and work ethic
- Provide feedback and support staff development
Requirments
**1. Education**
- **High school diploma or equivalent** (required)
- **Post-secondary education** in hospitality, culinary arts, or business (preferred but not always required)
**2. Experience**
- **1-2 years** of experience in the food service industry
- **Supervisory or team lead experience** in a restaurant or food service setting
**3. Certifications**
- **Food Safety Certification** (e.g., FoodSafe, ServSafe, or local equivalent - required)
- **First Aid / CPR** (optional, but considered an asset in some establishments)
**4. Skills**
- Strong **leadership and team management** skills
- Excellent **customer service** and **problem-solving** abilities
- Solid **organizational** and **time management** skills
- Good **communication** (verbal and written)
- Basic **math and computer skills** (for inventory, scheduling, POS, and reporting)
**5. Physical Requirements**
- Ability to **stand for long periods**:
- Capable of **lifting 20-40 lbs** (e.g., boxes, supplies)
- Comfortable working in **busy environments**
**6. Work Conditions**
- Must be available for **evening, weekend, and holiday shifts**:
- Comfortable working in a **fast-paced** and **high-pressure** setting
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.50-$19.38 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
