Science World is a mission-based, charitable organization that supports the development of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design and Math) literacy across British Columbia. Our _Science for All_ strategy is to revitalize Science World with a substantial capital plan to replace critical infrastructure, enhance the visitor experience and develop new content across all our channels under the themes of Regeneration of the Planet, Human Health, and Inclusion. Our plan is to ensure that people throughout British Columbia, especially under-represented communities, have access to high quality, informal STEAM learning. Through our onsite, online and outreach programs, Science World seeks to spark curiosity and wonder in STEAM and support development of talent across communities in the province.

**Position Description**:
This Temporary Full-Time position will be for a 12 month period, with the possible extension to 18 months.
We are seeking a motivated individual to grow and foster community engagement in support of Science World’s mission through producing unique and memorable public events and activities with a focus on experiential learning. Through inter
- and cross-departmental collaboration, this position will enable mutually beneficial relationships between Science World and a wide range of external partners to engage with diverse audiences and community members.
As a facility, Science World is generally open to the public seven days a week, with some extended evening hours in the summer months. Typical office hours are Monday to Friday 8:00am - 5:30pm, with front-facing and operational teams also working a variety of shifts including weekends, holidays and evenings. Hours of work and other related requirements will be scheduled according to business needs and this may include special events on evenings, weekends and holidays.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Manage all planning and logistics required to deliver Science World hosted events and activities, both in-person and on-line, including Community and Feature Gallery activations, Science World After Dark programming, community collaborations, and speaker and panel-presentation events, among others
- Act as lead event planner to plan, oversee and deliver large-scale, cross-departmental programming activations, such as Amazon Day
- Support the planning and execution of the Science World’s signature Girls and STEAM program, including the annual in-person Summit, which will require inter-departmental collaboration and planning
- Nurture Community Partner relationships by:
- Monitoring and responding to requests submitted through the Community Partner intake form and working with the PPE Manager and others to determine which requests to pursue or decline
- Support guest exhibitors and activations that are hosted at Science World
- Manage the “Light Up Science World” program where external events, charities, and non-profits can submit requests to have the colour of the dome lights changed temporarily to match the colours of their cause/event
- Work with the Marketing team to cross-promote Community Partner activations on the Science World webpage and in-building screens
- Conduct due diligence research into the background and reputation of external requests to ensure that the organization, individual, and/or program aligns with Science World’s values and brand reputation, sharing the information collected with the Manager to inform the collaborative selection of which partnership requests to pursue
- Work collaboratively with Facility and Event Rentals on events logistics where key partners are hosting events or activities within the Science World building
- Liaise with speakers and partners to curate and edit content that will be used in the creation of event invitations and other promotional materials, including digital and print
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Brand team in the creation of materials, ensuring they are consulted early within the planning cycle of the event to ensure plenty of time for design and implementation
- Support the Manager in outreach and administrative efforts in identifying promotional channels and community partners through which to promote Science World events and activities
