**Buyer (1-Year Contract)**

We are looking for a Buyer (1-Year Contract) for our Peterborough, Ontario site. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry’s most challenging problems. Today, BWXT’s equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Buyer will assist the Sourcing team with their outstanding purchases to ensure schedules are maintained and project needs are met. This includes obtaining and reviewing progress reports from vendors, proactively identifying schedule risks and working to mitigate them (including escalation if required). The Buyer will also be responsible for receiving deliverables from vendors (such as QA documentation) and circulating same for approval. The Buyer may also from time to time be responsible for supporting the business in sourcing a broad range of products.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Develop and maintain a Microsoft Excel or other form of tracking sheet for outstanding purchase order lines/items.
- Work with vendors to proactively mitigate delays, identify bottlenecks in process, prioritize orders and escalate issues as required both with the vendor, and internally at NEC if required.
- Maintain all applicable ERP data fields, including but not limited to: Expected ship date, committed ship date, QA documentation received date, etc.
- As needed, execute the purchase of certain off-the-shelf components including Requests for Quote and Purchase Order Issuance.
- Minimal travel to suppliers may be required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience.
- College or university education in purchasing, business administration OR communications is preferred.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation and issue resolution skills.
- Solid computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience in a fast paced, cross-functional team environment.
- Experience in aerospace or nuclear industry is an asset but not required.
