**Rate of Pay: $32.58 - $41.51 per hour**

Sister Margaret Smith Centre is seeking a full time Addiction Counsellor to working within the Adult Services team. This position is primarily responsible for providing addiction services to older adults and their families who are experiencing substance abuse problems often with co-occurring disorders (addictions and mental health). Service delivery would include: assessment, screening, case management, individual and family counselling, facilitating psycho-educational and support groups. Outreach work, including home visits, is a part of the delivery system and may include occasional evening and weekend work.

This position would function as a member of the Adult Services treatment team which is multi-disciplinary and integrated across agencies within the Mental Health and Addiction system in Thunder Bay.

**Qualifications**:

- A Bachelor of Social Work degree or equivalent from an accredited University
- Current registration with affiliated college
- Minimum 3 years of clinical work with older adults
- Knowledge and experience working with mental health and addiction issues related to older adults is essential
- Experience with interdisciplinary bio-psychosocial model of care
- Well developed oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of indigenous culture and northern communities
- Demonstrated understanding/training in trauma, crisis intervention models an asset
- Will be required to drive to various work locations and provide own transportation
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work

**CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
