ABOUT THE ROLE

The main responsibility of the Manager, Risk Management is to maintain, manage, and continue to develop and enhance the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program at SOCAN. The Manager, Risk Management also supports the Director, Operational Audit and Risk Management with facilitating the risk identification, assessment, and evaluation process with various stakeholders, which includes reporting and presenting to Executives, Senior Management, and the Risk Identification and Management Committee of the Board on the key risks and the associated treatment plans.

This individual is also responsible for promoting a risk aware culture through implementing and maintaining the SOCAN-wide Risk Management Policy and Framework, and providing Management with the necessary information to inform business decisions that support the achievement of corporate objectives for SOCAN and its related companies, i.e. The SOCAN Group (TSG).

YOUR CONTRIBUTION

**You will contribute to “raising the bar for music rights,” by**:
**Enterprise Risk Reporting**:

- Coordinate and facilitate the Semi-Annual Risk Update Process (e.g. Risk Identification, Risk Assessment, etc.) with various Executive and Senior Management stakeholders
- Regularly maintain and update Risk Register and Treatment Register
- Prepare and present the Semi-Annual Risk Update to Executives, Senior Management, and the Risk Identification and Management Committee.

**Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program**:

- Lead the continuous improvement and maintenance of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process and activities within TSG, including providing guidance, mentorship, and support to risk owners during the execution of the processes and activities
- Support the operationalization of the Risk Management Framework throughout the various critical business processes (e.g. Project Delivery, Vendor Management, etc.)
- Establish collaborative relationships across the organization with key stakeholders to drive risk awareness and mitigation
- Develop and deliver ERM training and materials for various stakeholders (e.g. Management and Board).

**Leadership and Teamwork**:

- Assist the Director, Operational Audit and Risk Management in developing an annual workplan and related budget requirements for the Risk Management function
- Prepare Quarterly Update Reports and Presentation Deck for SOCAN’s Risk Identification and Management Committee and Executive Management
- Liaise with Senior Management to ensure that the Risk Management Team is informed of new areas of risk and projects/initiatives, which may be incorporated into the ERM Risk Reporting
- Provide mentorship and coaching (i.e. constructive feedback) to staff as required.

**Other**:

- Member of the Advance Research Team.

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

Experience
- Professional experience in Risk Management or adjacent areas such as Internal Audit, Finance, Legal, and/or Compliance and Governance
- Demonstrated experience in planning and leading projects or engagements
- Knowledge and experience in using data analytics and visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI).

Education
- Undergraduate university degree in Business and/or Finance (e.g. Commerce, Accounting, etc.)
- Professional designation, certification, and/or graduate university degree in related area (e.g. CPA, CIA, CRMA, MBA, etc.) is an asset.

Skillset / Nice to Have’s
- Strong understanding and technical knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management processes and governance
- Knowledge of ERM frameworks (e.g. COSO, ISO, etc.)
- Strong organization and planning skills with the ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines
