**Working for the Women and Children's Health Research Institute**

The Women and Children's Health Research Institute (WCHRI) was founded in 2006 as a partnership between the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services, with core funding from the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation (SCHF) and the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation/Alberta Women's Hospital Foundation(RAHF/AWHF). Through the generous contributions of both foundations, WCHRI has been able to support the research excellence, training and development activities of investigators from a wide range of clinical and academic disciplines, all focusing their efforts on improving health outcomes for women and children in our province. WCHRI is the only research institute in Canada - and one of the few in the world - to focus on women's and children's health, including perinatal health.

The Institute is considered to be a national authority and leader in women's and children's health issues. The scope and complexity of WCHRI is extensive - supporting over 430 members from 14 faculties and three colleges across the University of Alberta.

**Position**

The Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for supporting multiple clinical research studies in the area of pediatric oncology. The position works within the clinical research team at the Women and Children's Health Research Institute and reports to the Clinical Research Director. The Clinical Research Coordinator works collaboratively with investigators, study participants, health care providers and other research support staff in order to ensure safe and successful conduct of clinical research studies. The position may provide a range of research support services, including (but not limited to) contract and ethics submissions; study setup, conduct and closeout.

**Duties**
- Under mínimal supervision, reviews, becomes knowledgeable about, and adheres to multiple pediatric oncology research protocols, including industry-sponsored clinical trials, investigator-initiated research studies, observational studies, registry studies, and chart reviews.
- Facilitates set-up, activation, daily operation, and close-out of a variety of pediatric oncology studies at Stollery Children's Hospital, coordinating with administrative teams, ethics boards, clinic staff, healthcare providers, lab, pharmacy, radiology, etc. as required
- Creates/edits study materials as required by each protocol including consent and assent forms, study roadmaps, regulatory files, study charts, case report forms, and recruitment materials
- Recruits/screens participants; obtains consent and assent from participants and their parents; organizes ongoing patient visits/follow-up; communicates protocol requirements to participants; performs/coordinates study assessments; collects and precisely documents study data; enters data into databases; resolves data queries
- Participates in study-related meetings, WCHRI meetings and educational opportunities
- Other duties as required by the protocol(s) and/or WCHRI.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Science degree; preferably supplemented by training and/or experience in a pediatric environment
- Minimum two years of clinical research experience
- Certification in GCP and Health Canada Division 5 required
- Certification with ACRP or SoCRA required
- Privacy/confidentiality training required (AHS and UofA)
- Ability to use IRISS, ARISE/REMO, and NACTRC portal systems
- Ability to use electronic medical record systems (Connect Care, Netcare, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with mínimal supervision
