Position Summary
The VSOC Analyst role is embedded in Discord’s virtual 24/7 security operations center (VSOC), working remotely in the United States. Using the latest industry technologies and practices, VSOC analysts identify, analyze, and advise on adverse conditions and threats that could affect the safety, security and operational continuity of the client and its users. These conditions include (but are not limited to): political instability and unrest, armed conflict, crime, terrorism, natural hazards, cyber threats, and online malign actors.
The Analyst will be managed by the embedded team leader on a day-to-day basis but will also report to Sibylline’s Embedded Operations Team. Full support and guidance will be provided from our head office; including training, professional development, and access to our global network of Sibylline analysts.
**Essential Functions / Responsibilities**
- Use all-source intelligence (including alert feeds, traditional and social media, and in-house sources) to monitor for security incidents and trends within the client’s areas of operation and locations and determine the likely impact to staff, assets, operations, events, and reputation.
- Support the Client’s trust and safety function to monitor and respond to issues on or with the client’s platform.
- Escalate security incidents to client stakeholders, following efficient and rehearsed procedures.
- Maintain visibility on employee movements and their proximity to notable incidents and events, advising accordingly through required reporting methods.
- Participate in training and drills to rehearse incident preparation and response SOPs.
- Support internal stakeholders with ad hoc reporting on geopolitical developments, scenario planning, forecasts, and other related topics.
- Display creative thinking and consulting skills to deliver a continually improving service for the client.
- Be an effective member of a dispersed small team, focused on delivery of lean, high-impact services.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Ability to interpret, organize, and visualize data with high-level competency in MS Office and Google Workspace tools, plus preferred experience with analytical software, OSINT tools, or mass notification systems (Navigator, AlertMedia).
- Ability to determine how geopolitical and security threats could impact private sector operations, travelers, and sites.
- Excellent research skills with ability to rapidly digest, evaluate, and synthesize large quantities of information from diverse sources while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
- Strong analytical flair with ability to provide rigorous, creative insights into complex situations and assess security implications for business operations.
- Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environments, work effectively in both individual and team settings, and willingness to work flexible shift rotations including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Preferred experience working in intelligence, due diligence, geopolitical, or security-related disciplines with established professional networks in relevant sectors.
- Preferred strong personal initiative with ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver solutions under mínimal guidance while maintaining quality standards.
- High-level competency with MS Office and Google Workspace tools, with preferred experience using specialized security software, analytical platforms, and open-source intelligence tools.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Security Studies, Criminal Justice, Journalism, or related field; preferred advanced degree (Master’s or above.)
- At least 1-3 years’ experience in an intelligence or customer-focused role in geopolitical risk, corporate security, due diligence, gover
