**Assistant Store Manager Job Description**
The function of the assistant store manager is to support the manager in the daily operations of our retail store. Your role is to supervise employees, work with customers and help carry out the directives of the manager and owner. We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic individual to help lead the Dear Born team.
- You will ensure that all associates provide exceptional customer service. This includes answering questions and assisting with product selection, purchases, and returns as well as handling any disputes.
- You will help ensure that the store is clean, well organized, and properly merchandised.
- You will be responsible for making sure that all store policies, procedures, and controls are followed.
- You will coordinate and oversee the planning, organizing, and delegating of work among staff.
- You will hold staff accountable for their daily interactions and job responsibilities.
- You will coach and train associates as required.
- Excellent communication Skills and teamwork.
The assistant store manager will act as the primary store manager and carry out the responsibilities of the store manager when they are not available. As the assistant store manager, you will act as ‘manager on duty' during your shifts. You may also be asked to track inventory and work closely with receiving staff.
As the assistant manager you must have basic understanding of budgeting and retail accounting.
This is a retail position, so you must be ready to work on weekends and busiest shopping days of the year.
As the Assistant manager you must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with problems as they arise. The ability to think quickly and rationally to ever-changing situations in order to succeed in the job.
You will need to have prior retail experience, merchandising skills and be sales oriented.
Assistant Store Manager Job Responsibilities
- Manage existing employee schedules and make any needed changes
- Provide Leadership and direction to all employees.
- Maintaining store standards including stocking and cleaning.
- Assist in carrying out any disciplinary measures for certain employees
- Support Store Manager in the day to day operations of the store.
- Work closely with the Store Manager to lead staff.
- Completing tasks and assignments accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure Health and Safety Standards are followed.
- Resolving Customer issues in a timely manner ensuring satisfaction.
- Open and close the store as required.
- Optimize profits by controlling costs.
- Take responsibility for preparing the store for business and making sure all closing tasks are done before the end of the day
- Maintain high standards for store appearance and displays
- Motivate employees and ensure focus on the mission.
- Ensure consistent standard of customer service.
- Evaluate store sales, prepare reports and suggest ways to increase sales and improve business
- Hold employees to high standards of conduct and be responsible for noticing and correcting any negative behavior
- Represent the store in a positive light and exhibit excellent customer service skills
- Embody the values of the company and put customers first

- Manage staff, creating the schedule to cover shifts successfully while balancing labor costs (when required)
