**Position: HSE Advisor**

**Location: Stony Plain, AB**

**Type: Full Time, Hourly**

Barrier Group is looking for an experienced **HSE Advisor**. We are looking for an outgoing, adaptable individual looking to learn and grow within our team and industry.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Facilitate, implement and administer HSE policies, procedures and systems
  • Monitor compliance with all relevant legislation, rules and regulations
  • Administer HSE onboarding requirements including scheduling D&A Tests, Fit Tests and additional training
  • Provide consultation and assist in risk assessment, hazard analysis and job planning
  • Promote employee buy-in for safe work practices and incident reporting
  • Create buy-in from employees towards safe work practice compliance and reporting of incidents, promoting strong participation at safety meetings and other Health and Safety initiatives
  • Maintain a positive work environment for all employees
  • Inspect workplace areas through observation to identify potential hazards
  • Assist and support other departments in accomplishing diverse tasks to ensure successful completion of projects and objectives
  • Responsible for reporting and investigating incidents and near misses
  • Lead by example to strengthen the corporate safety cutlure

**Required Qualifications**

  • Minimum of 2 years of previous experience as an HSE Advisor
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with 3-year clean Driver’s Abstract
  • NCSO Designation
  • CSTS or PCST Certification
  • Standard First Aid Certification
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and pre-access drug and alcohol testing as necessary

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**

  • **Comprehensive HSE Knowledge**: In-depth understanding of HSE regulations, industry-specific requirements, risk assessment, incident investigation, and emergency response protocols
  • **Effective Communication**: Excellent communication skills to convey HSE policies, deliver engaging training, and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization
  • **Analytical Expertise**: Strong analytical skills to assess risks, conduct workplace inspections, and use data to measure safety performance
  • **Proactive Hazard Mitigation**: Ability to identify potential hazards and implement proactive measures to prevent incidents
  • **Safety Program Development**: Proficient in developing and implementing tailored safety programs to promote a positive safety culture
  • **Leadership and Collaboration**: Capable of leading safety meetings, facilitating training sessions, and fostering teamwork to ensure HSE compliance
  • **Continuous Learning**: Proactively stay updated with emerging HSE trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated
