**Natural Stone Installer - Stonemason**

**Tasks/Responsibilities**:

- Work with natural stone and natural stone tiles to create or repair stone structures indoors or outdoors.
- Carving, cutting or shaping natural stones or natural stone tiles to fit the design using hand tools and specialized tools. This may involve chisels, saws, or electronic cutting equipment.
- Laying out natural stone pieces or natural stone tiles according to the design or pattern.
- Setting countertops, natural stones or natural stone tiles onto structures, ensuring they are level and securely placed.
- Preparing surfaces for natural stone pieces or natural stone tiles installation. This may include cleaning, smoothing, or creating a rough texture to enhance adherence.
- Load and unload trucks with stone supplies and equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications.
- Follow safety protocols.
- Estimate materials, labour, tools and equipment.
- Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing.
- Construct and install prefabricated masonry units.
- Build patios, garden walls and other decorative installations.
- Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages.
- Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools.
- Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces.
- Operate machines to grind and polish surfaces of stone blocks, slabs or other stone products to specific shape or design and to produce a smooth finish.
- Operate blade or wire saws to cut blocks of stone to specified dimensions.
- Produce carvings from wood, stone and other materials.
- Finish stone products with spray paint and by mounting plaques or installing concrete bases.
- Operate stone-dressing lathe to sharpen and dress grindstones that grind logs into pulp.
- Operate machines to drill holes in blocks or slabs of stone according to specifications.

- At least 3 years of full-time experience. More experience is an asset.
