Security Training Coordinator

The Security Training Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of quality standards with respect to protocol, policy, and procedure with the contracted security guards at Sheridan. The incumbent is also responsible for, as directed by the Manager, ensuring the compliance, performance, and productivity of the security guard team. The Security Training Coordinator is focused on operational and customer service excellence by promoting safety, security, and fostering a continuous improvement culture within the Sheridan security team.
This role includes coordination of all site-specific contractor qualification requirements, administrative support to field teams, preparation of training materials and record management as per Sheridan requirements
- Participates in Sheridan committees and working groups
- Develops and maintains department and centre standards, policy and procedures and works with Security Service Provider to ensure site post orders for security services are reviewed and revised as necessary.
**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Acting as the first point of contact at a specified campus to oversee day-to-day activities of security services
- Providing a frontline interface to relay feedback and report irregularities to Manager
- Assessing and responding to various emergency or crisis situations to ensure de-escalation or resolution
- Corresponding with police to provide information for their investigations and obtains information for Sheridan’s records
- Overseeing and performs ongoing Sheridan incident investigations. Conducts interviews, collects relevant and accurate information in accordance with Sheridan’s policy and legal guidelines
- Working with a security service provider to ensure all security staff is trained in all aspects of the Security Program including new officer training, first aid, progressive certification, specialized training such as the use of force, de-escalation and crisis intervention. Ensures contract performance standards are being met and recommends re-training based on observed performance.
- Ensuring Security Services respond appropriately to all emergency situations. Referring to site post orders for Security response and recommending changes and training opportunities to the Security provider as necessary.
- Conducting annual surveys related to safety, security, the overall impression of security personnel and reports measures/outcomes; develops short and long term goals for improvement strategies and recommends service improvements.
- Preparing documentation (e.g. investigations and incident reports, security breaches, facility and safety hazards)
- Leading or participating in the coordination of various drills and testing of security infrastructure
- On-boarding all new contracted security staff
- Preparing statistical reports and data (e.g. cases handled; complaints, violations of policy or other inquiries); provides evaluation/analysis and offers recommendations for the development of policies, procedures and operating guideline
- Performing other duties as required

- 3-year college diploma/university degree in a related field such as security studies, investigations, law enforcement, criminal justice, sociology or psychology
- Must have Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, Class G Ontario driver’s license, Standard First Aid and CPR certification and must be Dual Licences Security Guard/Investigator certified
