Under the general direction of the Support Systems Engineer, the Certification and Training Coordinator is responsible for governance of operator certification status, management of regulatory requirements, management and development of operator training programs, and provision of operator qualification guidance.

**As the **_Certification and Training Coordinator_**_ _**you will**:

- Certification Status Governance:

- organize and track certification status of Water Services employees
- monitor and inform supervisors of recertification requirements
- monitor and inform supervisors of potential non-compliance of individuals moving to new positions
- verification of post-secondary education credits
- Manage regulatory requirements:

- maintain thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements for operator certification
- anticipate and plan for future regulatory changes
- liaise with regulators as a Division Representative
- liaise with provincial authorities on matters pertaining to amendments of training requirements in certification legislation and accreditation of staff training hours.
- participate in the development and execution of plans and documents to meet regulatory requirements
- Develop and manage training programs:

- prepare and implement training programs for Water Services operators with the main objective of ensuring compliance with Provincial mandatory certification.
- identify existing and future gaps in training.
- proactively plan and schedule supplementary training
- conduct research on availability of external training
- compile and document training course outlines, objectives and test results
- administer required testing (invigilation)
- manage conversion of CEUs and training records
- Make recommendations for improvements and changes in training programs and format
- coordinate and evaluate the Equipment Operator Training provided to Water Services by Public Works
- Liaise with post-secondary training institutions (Community Colleges / Universities) for staff training alternatives.
- liaise with department and corporate training representatives to support all facets of staff development
- participate in development of SOPs
- coordinate equipment/process training by suppliers/contractors
- Operator Qualification Guidance:

- provide guidance and advice for staff with respect to training and certification requirements related to career plans
- work closely with individuals to determine their training and certification needs (determine what they want, what they can take, and if it will count for what they need).
- Ensure compliance with Worker’s Compensation Legislation, Human Rights Legislation, safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned which could include:

- conduct applicable administrative tasks as required
- provide support for department staff during an emergency or security event.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- Minimum two years post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Operator Certification process, legislation and requirements in Manitoba.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Standard.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, including group presentation, facilitation skills, and team building skills.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated analytical, investigative and researching capabilities.
- Must be able to plan, organize, schedule, prioritize, and coordinate work and resources with a high degree of independence.
- Demonstrated ability to inform, guide and liaise with a full range of staff and outside contacts.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare written reports.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and files.
- Demonstrated ability to use office computer systems (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, Synergen).
- Must have thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and the safety precautions and regulations that are applicable to the position’s area of work.
