A Daycare located in the SE Edmonton, we believe every child is curious, capable, and full of potential. We follow the Reggio Emilia approach, creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children learn through play, creativity, and exploration. We are seeking a passionate **Level 3 Early Childhood Educator** to join our leadership team as **Assistant Director**.

Job Overview

The Assistant Director supports the Director in the daily operations of the daycare while providing high-quality programming and care. This role combines leadership, classroom responsibilities, and family engagement to ensure our center thrives as a supportive learning community.

Key Responsibilities

**Programming & Child Development**
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, developmentally appropriate environment.
- Plan and deliver programming that reflects children’s interests and needs.
- Document attendance and daily records (e.g., via Lillio).
- Lead both structured and play-based activities indoors and outdoors.
- Attend to children’s care needs, including meals, dressing, and diapering.

**Leadership & Support**
- Assist the Director with scheduling, compliance, and family communication.
- Step in for Director responsibilities when delegated.
- Contribute to program evaluation and quality improvements.

**Family Engagement**
- Build strong relationships with families through daily communication.
- Share updates on children’s development and learning.
- Support parent meetings and family events.

**Teamwork & Professionalism**
- Model positive, respectful interactions with children, families, and staff.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain smooth daily operations.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.

**Qualifications**:

- **Must hold Level 3 Child Care Certification (Alberta)**:

- Previous experience in early childhood education and/or leadership is an asset
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a team-oriented environment
- Passion for fostering children’s growth and development

Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time, 30-40 hours per week
- Shifts between 7:00am - 6:00pm (may vary based on center needs)
- Pay**:$19-20/hour** (based on experience and qualifications)
