We are currently searching for an experienced and passionate **Laboratory Technician **to join our team**.** The Laboratory Technician will need to be analytical and technical focused with sound scientific reasoning and effective organizational and data handling skills.

Under the direction of the Sr. Manager, Innovation the Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing research and product development using various methods and techniques. The Laboratory Technician is also responsible for raw material and selected finished product testing and reporting. This role is based on a 32-hour work week (4 days per week) and is based out of a lab located at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS.

Key Responsibilities include the following:

- Complete analytical testing on stability samples, product prototypes and raw materials using sound scientific knowledge and following appropriate methods and systems in adherence with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Operate analytical instrumentation such as gas and liquid chromatography equipment.
- Proficient at analyzing experimental results, organizing results into appropriate formats, and presenting results.
- Maintain lab records and documentation with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Lab maintenance: Clean and maintain labware and equipment; properly handle chemical waste; maintain a safe and tidy work environment.
- Support preparations of lab and pilot scale research batches when required.
- Knowledge and experience in sensory analysis is an asset.
- Support the development and maintenance of new product specifications, including material specifications, stability data, and documentation checklists.
- Actively participate in weekly team meetings and provide status updated on work conducted.
- Adhere to and enforce all company health and safety requirements.
- May include other duties as assigned from time to time.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Highly motivated, analytical, collaborative team player.
- Recent graduate with a degree or diploma in food science, chemistry, or biology with laboratory experience.
- 1-2 years of practical experience working in a laboratory setting is highly desirable.
- Must be able to think analytically and critically and take the initiative in conducting laboratory tasks and exhibit a hands-on approach in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Experience with lipid chemistry and analysis and/or natural product ingredients would be considered an asset.
- Training in GLP/GMP are considered assets.
- Experience with natural health product quality and regulatory requirements would be considered an asset.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and composition.
