Wholesale Nursery Sales Representative

**Job Summary**
**Island View Nursery** is seeking 1 **Wholesale Nursery Sales Representative** with a horticulture background and computer knowledge to join our team.
**Frequent Job Duties**:
- Responsible for driving sales through product knowledge and costumer relations.
- Perform behind the register duties using QuickBooks Online which includes creating sales receipts and invoices, refunds and credits, quotes and estimates for customers and account holders.
- Assist and guide customers with locating plant material in the nursery, product sizes and price, any plant related questions, and suggestions for plant substitutions.
- Organize tree pulling / pickup times as well as schedule any deliveries of plant material to customers upon request.
- Communicate accurate plant quantity estimates and quality to the nursery owner and customers.
- Order stock from suppliers when quantities are low as well as pre-order plant material prior to busy seasons.
**Occasional Job Duties**:
- Assist in pulling plant orders upon request.
- Source and custom order customer requested plant material from suppliers.
- Plan and organize site inventory counts in the winter and summer.
- Manage nursery stock to reflect accurate inventory quantities to help create product availability lists.
- Update inventory information such as pricing, size, and location in the software.
**Job Type / Category**:

- Shifts: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
**Required Education, Skills and Qualifications**
**Education & Experience**:
- Must have knowledge and understanding of plants through identification, growing habits, and their Latin (priority) and common names (asset).
- Post-secondary education and/or experience in the horticulture industry.
- Preferred at least 1 year of plant sales, plant inventory, and/or landscaping or nursery experience.
**Skills Required**:
- Excellent customer service & relations that reflects a positive outlook and attitude.
- Maintain personal standards of work, i.e. speed and quality.
- Demonstrate commitment to the job, team, and business through punctuality and attendance.
- Capacity to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
- Excellent computer and typing skills / technological problem solving abilities.
- Competency with computer softwares such as QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and/or Apple softwares.
- Aptitude to communicate well in English in written and oral form.
- Using initiative and intelligence to get jobs done properly upon first attempt.
- Quick learner with ability and capacity to adapt to new plants, crops and situations.
- Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Excellent leadership and motivational skills required.
- If necessary, work overtime on short notice (sometimes in the spring).
