**Position Purpose and Objectives**

The Commercial Proposal Manager (CPM) of our client reports to the VP Business Development will assume responsibility for contract review, preparation of complex quotations and providing all project information to Manufacturing for successful completion and profitability of project orders. The position is based in Burlington, Ontario at our client’s head office. The CPM will work in conjunction with Customer Service, Sales, Applications Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing and act as the Distributor and/or Customer’s direct point of contact with our client.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Review of all provided incoming data (project bid package including Terms and Conditions) for request for quotations (RFQ’s) and determine quotation status through the workflow process.
- Obtain any missing or incomplete data by working with Customers, Distributors and our client’s Commercial team
- Determine the best solution for the customer based on review with our client’s Business Development Managers, Regional Managers and Distributors along with input from manufacturing and engineering
- Encourage, develop, and maintain good relationships with our customer partners in order to ensure satisfaction, loyalty and foster commercial links
- Provide project quotations in a timely manner. While preparing a coordinated quotation package, consider all commercial, design, Quality Control, purchasing and manufacturing requirements to meet the customer's delivery expectations. [Responsible for coordinating PPT 1 meeting]
- Main project quotations will be for ship propeller shaft bearing systems and hydro-turbine guide bearing systems.
- Review of contractual terms and conditions and identification of risks. Work with Finance Director to ensure that risks are mitigated prior to contract execution
- Coordinate all activities between customer and internal stakeholders to prepare contract for execution
- Work with Engineering and Marketing to fulfill all project documentation requirements (installation/operation manuals) in a timely manner, using the latest materials
- Manage direct accounts through buyer procurement databases including invoicing, prepayments and required documentation
- Prepare custom quotations as required in accordance with the Company margin guidelines.
- Participate and implement process and system improvement initiatives
- Establish and design standard matrices based on past best practices and experience to facilitate and reduce quotation time.
- Provide quarterly follow-up margin analysis reports for projects and other custom quotations, where required, to determine possible problems and/or quoting inaccuracies and review with VP of Business Development and VP Sales.
- Where required, update Project Status and all communication in CRM System in a timely manner, to assist in forecasting project sales for both internal and external usage.
- Use CRM system to track and advise the status of projects to support weekly activity reports, quarterly open project status reports, analysis of completed projects, etc.
- Prepare complete Project Hand-Off packages to Manufacturing as required.
- Provide backup services to select personnel as requested by the VP Business Development
- Provide support services to Customer Service Representatives, Commercial team, and Global Service & Support, as needed.
- Preparation of commercial and technical proposal packages and review of terms and conditions, and other legal paperwork associated with our client’s direct sales accounts.
- Must be able to react to change productively and to undertake other tasks as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Minimum 7 years’ experience working with complex, large projects and assemblies, either in project management, sales/quotations, or engineering
- Experience in the marine or clean power industry would be an asset
- University or College degree in a technical field
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or in progress toward accreditation
